5.8 Set-up using PC
You can also put your Digital Recorder into service and/or configure it via PC. The
following are available for this:
1. Disk drive for reading in parameters saved on diskette.
2. Rear RS232 / RS485 / Ethernet system interface
5.8.1 Installation of PC software:
Install the supplied PC software on your computer. The program's Operating
Instructions can be printed out after installation, if required.
Call up the program.
Now you can configure your device via PC. For this, please refer to the program's
instructions/help.
5.8.2 Advantages of configuration via PC
• The device data is saved in a database and can be accessed again at any time.
• Text entries can be carried out more quickly and efficiently by keyboard
• Measured values can also be read out, archived and displayed on the PC with the
same program.
Note!
The interfaces cannot be used at the same time. Select the interface used under
"Miscellaneous - Serial Interface".
Procedure at device with set-up diskette:
1. Copy set-up to diskette:
- Insert a formatted diskette into the device.
- In the main menu, select "Diskette functions / Save set-up on diskette".
- Remove the diskette from the device and insert it into the disk drive in the PC.
2. Adjust set-up in the PC program and save in the associated database:
- Select "Display / change unit set-up / add new unit -> Unit set-up -> New read out
from data carrier (e.g. diskette, ATA flash card)" and read in the appropriate set-up
file (*.RPD) from your disk drive (e.g. A:\).
- Adjust the device settings.
- Select "Finished / Store set-up into unit database". The new set-up parameters are
saved in the PC database. Transfer the new SETUP file to the diskette in your PC:
select "Finished / Create set up data carrier (diskette / ATA flash card)" and select
the suitable device.
- Remove the diskette from the disk drive in the PC and insert it into the device.
3. Read the new set-up into one (or more) device(s):
- In the main menu, select "Diskette functions / Load set-up from diskette".
Procedure with serial connection:
1. Connect device with serial interface (RS232 / RS485 or Ethernet) to the PC.
2. Start PC program start and select "Unit / Display / change unit set-up / add new unit
"
3. Adjust the device settings and select "Finished / Transmit set-up to unit". The new
set-up parameters are automatically transferred to the device.
4. Finally, the device settings should be saved in the device database. Select
"Finished / Store set-up into unit database".
