7. Assessment of metered quantity

In order to be able to compare the metered quantities with the specified tolerances, the
quantities must be weighed using digital scales (refer also to Section 4). The graduated
beaker scale is not adequate for assessment purposes.

8. Connecting electrical adapter module to vehicle

The diagnostic tester is normally connected to the vehicle manufacturer's 16-pin diagnosis
interface. On Renault, Volvo and certain other vehicles, diagnosis may not be possible by way
of the vehicle manufacturer's diagnosis interface or no 16-pole diagnosis socket may be
provided.
- In case of doubt, connect the diagnostic tester to the vehicle diagnosis interface and check
whether diagnosis is possible.
- If diagnosis is not possible at this location, connect up the adapter module 0 986 610 160
between the control unit (at the delivery module) and the connector.
Connecting adapter module 0 986 610 160:
- If fitted, remove the cover at the delivery
module.
- Ignition MUST BE SWITCHED OFF!
- Unplug the connector at the delivery module
(1). To do so, squeeze the retainer tabs on
the plastic part of the connector and release
the locking lever.
- The only difference between the two adapter
module connectors is the mechanical
encoding (shape). The terminal assignment
is identical.
Heed the shape of the connector at the
vehicle. Select the appropriate connecting
line (2) and connect it to the control
unit.
- Plug in the wiring harness connector (3) at the
adapter module.
- Connect the diagnostic tester to the diagnosis connection (4)
of the adapter module.
- Select interface "CAN 1" for diagnosis
communication by way of the switch (5).
Communication cannot be established if the wrong interface is selected. If diagnosis is
not possible via "CAN 1",set the switch to the "CAN 2" position.
