General safety rules

All safety instructions are to be read tho-
roughly before using the Bosch tester and
they must be observed .
Gloves and protective goggles must be
worn, as contact with the coolant can
cause blindness and serious injury .
Avoid the refrigerant coming into contact
with the skin .The low boiling point of the
refrigerant (approx . -30 °C) means that
frostbite to the skin can occur . In case of
contact with the skin, remove wet clothing
immediately andrinse the affected area of
skin with plenty of water .
Do not inhale coolant and oil vapors . The
vapors can irritate the eyes and airways .
If liquid coolant comes into contact with
the eyes, rinse eyes thoroughly with water
for at least 15 minutes . Then seek medical
attention, even if the eyes are not causing
any pain .
The ACS 400/450 is fitted with safety valves
designed to protect the system . The safety
valve and control system settings may not
be adjusted under any circumstances .
Before the ACS 400/450 is connected to
the vehicle A/C system or to an external
coolant cylinder, the taps and valves must
be closed . Use exclusively external coolant
cylinders that are fitted with safety valves
and are approved under the applicable
standards .
Before switching off the A/C service unit,
ensure that the individual phases are com-
plete and the taps and valves are closed .
This prevents coolant escaping into the
environment .
Carefully disconnect filling hoses as all
hoses may contain pressurized coolant .

Do not use compressed air with the R134a
coolant . Some mixtures of air and R134a
can become slightly flammable under
high pressure . These mixtures are poten-
tially hazardous and can result in a risk of
fire and explosion, causing damage and
injury .
R134a is colorless and odorless and is hea-
vier than air . It displaces oxygen and can
flow into lower spaces . If coolant escapes,
there is a risk of suffocation in poorly ven-
tilated areas or service pits .
The R134a coolant may not be used in en-
vironments with a risk of explosion . Avoid
fire, naked flames and smoking . Welding
and soldering are prohibited . High tempe-
ratures and UV radiation causes R134a to
chemically split up . The products cause
irritable coughs and nausea .
R134a may not be mixed with other coo-
lants, as it is recovered, recycled and re-
used for topping up in the ACS 400/450 .
This would damage the A/C system in the
vehicle .
The ACS 400/450 must always be monito-
red during operation .
All work on the vehicle must be prepared
and carried out in such a way that the
coolant circuit in the vehicle is not opened
up (e . g . removal of cooler, removal of
engine) .
The ACS 400/450 should be placed with
all four wheels on a horizontal surface to
ensure correct operation of the scales .
Secure the ACS 400/450 against rolling
away with the parking brakes .
The ACS 400/450 must always be trans-
ported in an operational state . Never
transport the unit lying on its side as the
oil can run out of the vacuum pump .
