Adjust the recording level while observing the
PEAK level indicator indication. Recording level
adjustment when recording FM broadcasts or from
records may be easier because those programs have
their peak components suppressed.
When making a live recording or dubbing from a
tape recorded by an open reel tape recorder, care
should be taken with the adjustment since the
audio source contains a wide range of sounds from
high- to low-levels.
Generally speaking
(A) If the recording is performed with the +9 peak
level indicator lighting frequently, the record-
ing will contain distorted sound.
(B) If the recording is performed with the O indi-
cator peak level hardly ever lighting, the
recording will result in a sound having in-
sufficient volume and noticeable tape hiss.
(C) In order to obtain the optimum recording
level, adjust the input level control so that the
+3 indicator lights when the maximum input
is applied.
(The +6 peak level indicator may occasionally
light.)
Actually, however, the optimum recording level
varies depending on the sound source or the tape
used. Especially with metal tape, since its satura-
tion point is high in comparison with that of
ordinary tape, it does not matter if the +9 indica-
tor lights occasionally.
Steuern Sie den Aufnahmepegel aus, während Sie die
Spitzenpegelanzeige (PEAK) überwachen. Die Einstellung
bei Aufnahme von UKW-Rundfunkprogrammen oder von
Schallplatten ist meist einfach, da bei solchen Tonquellen
die Spitzen unterdrückt sind. Bei Life-Aufnahmen oder
Tonkopien von Spulen-Tonbandgeraten ist die Aussteu-
erung kritischer, da solche Tonquellen einen weiten
Pegelbereich von hohen bis niedrigen Pegeln haben.
Allgemein gilt, daß
(A) Wenn bei der Aufnahme +9 Punkt der Spitzenwert-
anzeige häufig aufleuchtet, dann enthält die Aufnahme
Verzerrungen.
(B) Wenn der O Punkt der Spitzenwertanzeige kaum auf-
leuchtet, dann ist die Aufnahme schwach und starkes
Bandrauschen zu hören.
(C) Der optimale Aufnahmepegel ist dann eingestellt, wenn
die +3 Anzeige der Spitzenwertanzeige beim maxima-
len Eingangspegel leuchtet.
(Der +6 Punkt darf dabei gelegentlich aufleuchten.)
Der optimale Aufnahmepegel ist aber abhängig von der
Tonquelle und dem benutzten Band verschieden. In Beson-
deren bei Verwendung von Metallband, da dessen Sätti-
gungspunkt im Vergleich zu gewöhnlichen Bändern höher
ist, und es daher nichts ausmacht, wenn die Anzeige zeit-
weise +9 anzeigt.

Regler le niveau d'enregistrement avec l'aide des indications
fournies par les voyants de signalisation du systeme de
détection des niveaux de crête. Le réglage du niveau d'enre-
gistrement est plus facile s'il s'agit d'enregistrer une émis-
sion de radio en modulation de fréquence ou bine un disque,
car en ce cas les crêtes ont déjà été éliminées.
Si en revanche il s'agit d'effectuer un enregistrement sur le
vif, ou bien de copier sur le KD-D35 un enregistrement
effectué par un magnétophone à bande, le réglage est plus
délicat car de telles sources audio comportent à la fois des
signaux très faibles et dés signaux très forts.
D'une manière générale, les résultats obtenus sont les
suivants:
(Le voyant de niveau de créte +6 peut s'allumer de
temps en temps.)
Toutefois, le niveau d'enregistrement optimal varie en fonc-
tion de la source sonore et du type de bande utilisée.
Spécialement avec la bande au métal, du fait que son point
de saturation est plus élevé que les bandes ordinaires, ce
n'est pas important si le voyant +9 s'allume de temps en
temps.
