Troubleshooting and diagnosis options
9.4 Integration of organization blocks (OBs)
If the SIEMENS SIMATIC S7 automation system is used, a number of so-called "organization blocks"
are available to the user.
Organization blocks form the interface between the CPU operating system and the user program. With
the aid of OBs program sections can be specifically executed, e.g. when errors or process alarms
occur.
Organization blocks are processed according to the priority assigned to them.
In principle the controller CPU goes into the STOP operating state in the event of an error, unless the
corresponding OB has been integrated. This is not always desirable and can be prevented by
integrating the corresponding OB. The OB need not have been expressly programmed for this
purpose. The OB only needs to be programmed accordingly if a specific error reaction is required.
OBs are called up if the measuring system position is accessed during a failure.
For more detailed information on organization blocks please see the SIEMENS documentation

9.4.1 Diagnostic alarm OB (OB 82)
This OB is generally triggered when the measuring system transmits a diagnostic alarm to the
controller, see chapter "PROFINET Diagnostic Alarm" on pages 142 and 158.

Solution
Vibrations, impacts and shocks, e.g. on
presses, are dampened with so-called "shock
modules". If the error occurs repeatedly
despite these measures, the measuring
system must be replaced.
Isolated flanges and couplings made of plastic
may help against electrical faults, as well as
cables with twisted pair wires for data and
supply. The shielding and line routing must be
executed in accordance with the Equipment
Mounting Directives for the respective field
bus system.
