3-10. Power supply

Power should be supplied to the output connectors shown in
Fig. 3-2 according to the specifications below.

In-rush current
The unit generates no output for approximately 0.1 seconds
after the power is turned on. In some cases, when the power
is turned off, the unit may output a signal as a result of the
encoder stop status or the power supply characteristics. This
signal can cause a malfunction in the receiver. To prevent
this from happening, be sure that the following procedures
are used to turn the power on and off.
Turning on the power
1) Turn on the power for the MJ500, MJ600, or MJ700.
2) Turn on the power for the receiver.
Turning off the power
1) Turn off the power for the receiver.
2) Turn off the power for the MJ500, MJ600, or MJ700.

. Be sure that a power supply with sufficient power capacity
is used.
. As a part of the self-check function, all lamps of the MJ500,
MJ600, and MJ700 turn on for approximately 0.4 seconds
after the power is turned on.
. The encoder is powered directly from the input power
supply. Use a power supply matching the supply voltage
of the connected encoder.
. An input power supply or external power supply can be
selected for powering the sensors or the switches connected
to the external contact-type reference point gate input
connector. Refer to "5-3. External contact-type reference
point gate input signal specifications."
