9. Opening the anchor
"IMPORTANT": Any use of the end anchor or
the bend plate beyond an angle of + / - 90° relative
to the axis of the anchor (page 16, Fig. 29) is likely to
compromise operation when a person falls.
"IMPORTANT": If the end anchor or bend plate
suffers a fall in using the anchor point, it must be
replaced before any return to service.
9. Verification, inspection and
Any lifeline installation, before commissioning or
returning to service after disassembly and repair, must to
be examined in all its visible parts, to ensure it complies
with the legal require ments, and safety standards,
especially EN 795. Tractel
use an approved inspection body for this purpose. This
review is at the supervisor's initiative and expense.
The horizontal travflex™ 2 lifeline is not PPE, however,
Tractel
recommends that a check on the good state of
®
preservation of the lifeline should be carried out at least
once a year.
This inspection is to analyse the general good state
of preservation and cleanliness of components (end
anchor, tensioner, tension indicator, shock absorber,
intermediary anchor, bend anchor, sign plate, cable,
corner unit, quick link connector, slider). Check legibility
of the marking on the components of the lifeline during
the periodic inspection.
In addition, PPE against falls from a height and the
travsmart slider used in connection with the travflex™
2 lifeline should be checked on commissioning as well
as periodic inspections by a person competent authority
in accordance with the regulations and standards
applicable. This verification must take place at least
once a year.

maintenance
SAS recommends that you
®
Lifeline and its components must be kept constantly
clean,
free
of
contaminating
construction waste, rubbish, etc.).
It is recommended to keep a monitoring book for each
lifeline, quoting the reference to the preliminary study,
the composition of the lifeline, the checks made, any
falls that have called upon the lifeline, refurbishing
measures and repairs, as well as any changes made
to the lifeline. In addition, PPE and the travsmart slider
must be registered and followed annually in accordance
with the requirements of the PPE Regulation.
When any point whatsoever of the travflex™ 2 lifeline
has been subjected to stress following the fall of a
operator, the entire lifeline, and especially the anchors,
fixations and anchor points located in the fall zone,
as well as any PPE involved in the fall, must be fully
verified by a qualified person before being returned to
service.
"NOTE": Intermediary anchors have been
specially designed to be replaced without removing the
cable. If it is in good condition after one or more persons
falling, it is not necessary to systematically change.

10. Acceptance tests

Acceptance tests are carried out at the user's initiative
and expense.
Any dynamic testing is potentially destructive, totally
or partially, and it is possible that the failure to detect
deterioration is not necessarily- conclusive, we strongly
recommend that you perform dynamic tests to accept
the travflex™ 2 lifeline.
"NOTE": To ensure the integrity of structural
anchors for concrete, Tractel
that each structural anchor (end, middle or bend) is
submitted to a tensile test to check the strength of its
attachment.
To this end, we apply a force of 5 kN on each anchor
for at least 15 seconds and verify the absence of any
deformation after the test. This can be done using a
Tractel
Dynaplug.
®
"IMPORTANT": It is forbidden to use and end
anchor to perform this tensile test, this test would lead
to the shearing of the indicator and the permanent
deformation of the anchor.
Before these tests, you must check that all bolts have
been tightened correctly.
