The tempo 2 lifeline comprises the following components:
• An anchor line, length 18 m, made of polyester webbing with
dimensions 35 x 2, certified by TRACTEL
• A tempo 2 tensioner, ratchet type, made of zinc-plated steel (T).
• An anchor strap, length 2 m.
• A strap with dimensions 44 x 4 made of polyester webbing,
certified by TRACTEL
• 2 connectors placed on one side of the line, on the stitched loop
of the anchor line (L) and on the other side, on the stitched loop
of the anchor strap (S).
• Two rings for straps AS19, length 2 m.
GB
• One carrying bag.
Before installing the tempo 2 lifeline, ensure that all the anchor
points have a tensile strength of 16 kN.
1. Installation
Connect the connector of the anchor line (L) of the tempo 2
lifeline to the first anchor point, then connect the second
connector on the anchor strap (S) to the second anchor point.
The two anchor points must be spaced by no more than 20 m.
The lifeline must be positioned so that its angle of inclination with
respect to the horizontal does not create any risk of the operator
sliding along the axis of the rope bridge lifeline in the event of a
fall by one or several persons ; in all cases, the angle must not
exceed 15°.
To tension the tempo 2 lifeline, manually pull the slack strand of
the anchor line parallel to the axis of the lifeline to reduce, to the
maximum, the deflection on the anchor line. While maintaining
the tensioning force on the slack strand, disengage the anti-
return brake of the tensioner to release the ratchet handle.
Actuate the ratchet handle and perform at least two turns so that
the strap overlaps correctly. Once the tensioning is completed,
reposition the anti-return brake. This operation will lock the
ratchet handle.
The tempo 2 lifeline must be installed as high as possible, and no
lower than a man's mid-height.
Before installation, check that the area under the lifeline
being installed is clear of all persons.
2. Removal
To dismantle the tempo 2 lifeline, disengage the anti-return brake
of the tensioner to release the ratchet handle.
Pull on the tensioned strand of the strap to create a sag.
Unfasten the two connectors at the anchor points.
Before loosening the line, make sure that no one is
Check that the area under the lifeline is clear of all persons.

Inspection before use

To be verified:
• Check that the tensioner (T) has not been bent in any way.
• Visually inspect the condition of the anchor line (L).
• Visually check the condition of the anchor strap (S).
• The system's installation conditions (see "Installation" chapter).
• Check that the user will not hit any obstacle during or after a fall.
• Check the compatibility of the fall-arrester with the installation
environment of the tempo 2 lifeline.
• Check that the line is properly tensioned.

Conditions of use

To connect to the tempo 2 lifeline, the user(s) must use, as a
mobile anchor point, a 10mm dia. steel wire connector complying
with standard EN 362.
The fall arrester, compliant with the requirements of standards
EN 353.2, EN 355 or EN 360 must be connected to the dorsal
attachment point of the fall arrest harness compliant with the
requirements of standard EN 361.
Do not use the tempo 2 lifeline under the following conditions:
Temperature exceeding +50°or below -40°.
In a chemical environment.
Storage
The tempo 2 lifeline must be stored in a location sheltered from
humidity and maintained within a temperature range of -40°C
to +50°C.

Maintenance and repair

Regular maintenance must be carried out by the user. Besides
the verifications specified in the "Inspections before use" chapter,
the following maintenance should be carried out:
• If the anchor line and anchor strap are dirty, wash them with
cold clear water using, if necessary, a detergent for delicate
fabrics ; use a synthetic brush.
• If during use or washing the anchor line and the anchor strap
have become wet, allow them to dry naturally in the shade
away from any source of heat.
• Before each use, inspect the anchor line and the anchor strap
visually along their entire length.
• Any serious non-visible damage can impact the strength of the
anchor line and the anchor strap.
TRACTEL
®
recommends that you do not allow use of the
anchor line and the anchor strap if it has not been inspected by
a person in charge of the equipment.
• Acids, oils and gasoline which have corne into contact with the
anchor line or the anchor strap will impact the strength of the
equipment. The polyester fibers of the anchor line and the
anchor strap will be attacked by these products. The resulting
deterioration of the fibers is not always visible to the naked eye.
• Avoid unnecessary exposure of the anchor line and the anchor
strap to the sun; always store the equipment in a shaded loca -
tion sheltered from hurnidity.
• Never allow the anchor line or anchor strap to rub against any
sharp edges or abrasive surfaces.
• Store the anchor line and the anchor strap in a bag in order to
protect it and whenever transporting the equipment. TRACTEL
supplies an appropriate bag with the tempo 2 lifeline.
• No special servicing is required for the tensioner. We recom -
mend however that you clean the tensioner using soapy water.
• The annual servicing and repairs must be performed by Tractel
or by an authorized repair company or by a qualified person
designated by the company manager.
Warnings against hazardous operations
It is forbidden:
• to use the tempo 2 lifeline for any purpose other than with a fall-
arrest system,
• to use the tempo 2 lifeline as a means of suspending a user or
any other load,
• to use the tempo 2 lifeline if it is improperly tensioned or if its
installation angle exceeds the 15° limit with respect to the
horizontal (Fig 5).
• to use a lifeline which has stopped a fall, without the device
having been inspected and tested after a fall by the
manufacturer or an authorized repair agent,
• to use an anchor line or an anchor strap showing any defects,
knots or visible signs of damage,
• to use a device for more than twelve months without having had
it checked by the manufacturer or a repair company authorised
by him.
