• Regularly brake the brake pads free
if the cycling situation allows it by
braking hard/abruptly on longer
downhill slopes.
When installing or removing the corre-
sponding wheel set, you can damage
the disc brake.
• Have wheel sets with disc brakes
removed and installed by your
FLYER specialist dealer.
• Check the brake disc and brake pads for
wear (visual inspection).
Contact a FLYER specialist dealer if
you are unsure about the wear limit.
Have wear parts replaced by your
FLYER specialist dealer and then have
the disc brake readjusted.
• Have the hydraulics checked and ser-
viced by your FLYER specialist dealer
(see chapter 7.6 "Regular inspection").
Rim brakes
WARNING!
Risk of accident and injury
Brakes are safety-related components.
With incorrectly maintained or unmain-
tained brakes, accidents and serious
injuries can occur.
• Have your rim brake maintained regu-
larly and always by a FLYER specialist
dealer.
• Check the brake pads and rims for wear
(visual inspection).
Contact a FLYER specialist dealer if
you are unsure about the wear limit.
Have your FLYER specialist dealer
replace worn parts and then readjust the
rim brake.
• Have the hydraulics checked and ser-
viced by your FLYER specialist dealer
(see chapter 7.6 "Regular inspection").
Coaster brakes
• Check whether the torque arm is securely
and properly attached to the bike frame.
• Have the coaster brake checked by your
FLYER specialist dealer if unusual noises
occur or if the braking force seems to
decrease.
Derailleur gears
• Check whether you can shift through the
gears without any problems.
• Check whether the chain, gears and rear
derailleur are undamaged.
• Check whether the distance between
the chain and the rear derailleur and the
distance between the rear wheel and the
spokes are sufficiently large.
• Make sure that the rear derailleur is not
bent and is perpendicular to the pinions.
• Check the chain tension.
The chain may not sag.
Push the rear derailleur (the shifting unit)
towards the pedals and check if it moves
back to the original position by itself when
you let go.
• Have the gear shifting system serviced by
a specialist dealer if you notice unusual
noises or other problems when shifting or
if the chain repeatedly jumps off.
Hub gears
• Check whether you can shift through the
gears without any problems.
• Check whether the drive components are
undamaged.
• Have your FLYER specialist dealer
change the oil once a year (see chap-
ter 7.6 "Regular inspection").
• Have the gear shift serviced by your
dealer if you notice any unusual noises or
other problems when shifting gears.
Suspension components
• Check the suspension components for
correct and safe operation.
WARNING!
Risk of accident and injury
Suspension components are safety-re-
lated parts. Incorrect or lack of mainte-
nance can result in accidents and seri-
ous injuries.
• Have your suspension components
maintained regularly and always by
a FLYER specialist dealer.
