Cleaning and care
Important: Clean and maintain
i
your e-bike and the components
installed on it as described in this
chapter to prevent functional losses
and premature wear.
Important: If possible, remove the
i
battery before cleaning.
WARNING!
Risk of accident and injury
The use of unsuitable cleaning agents,
lubricants or care products can cause
damage and reduced functionality of
your e-bike or safety-relevant compo-
nents, resulting in accidents and seri-
ous injuries.
• Note that not all lubricants and care
products are suitable for your e-bike
or its components.
• Only use cleaning agents and lubri-
cants recommended or approved by
the component manufacturer.
• Do not allow cleaning or mainte-
nance products or oils to get on
brake pads, brake discs and brake
rim surfaces as this will reduce
brake performance.
Frame and wheel set
• Clean the frame of your e-bike, the wheel
set and fenders with a damp cloth with
clean water or, if necessary, with mild
soapy water. Afterwards, wash off the
soap suds with clear water.
Important: Never clean your e-bike
i
with a high-pressure cleaner, com-
pressed air or spray your e-bike
with a hose for cleaning. This could
cause damage to the components
of the electric drive system, among
other things.
Operating elements
• Clean the operating elements with a dry
or slightly damp cloth.
Make sure that no liquid gets into the
housings of the electrical control ele-
ments.
Chain drive components
• Clean the chain and both sprockets with a
clean and lightly oiled cloth or soft brush.
• Oil the chain with universal oil after every
cleaning, after cycling in the rain or after
the chain has become very wet for any
other reason and regularly after about 15
hours of use.
Components of belt drives
Important: Belt drives are NOT
i
oiled or greased!
• Clean the profiles of belts and pulleys dry
with a soft brush or, if necessary, with mild
soapy water. Afterwards, wash off the
soap suds with clear water.
• Carefully remove any trapped dirt or
small stones with a plastic pin. Do not
use sharp-edged tools under any circum-
stances!
Electric drive components
• Follow the instructions for cleaning the
individual drive components in the corre-
sponding manufacturer's manual for your
electric drive.
Disc brakes
• Clean dirty brake discs with a suitable
brake cleaner approved by the manufac-
turer.
Rim brakes
• Clean dirty brake pads, rims and brake
cables with a slightly damp cloth.
Coaster brake
The coaster brake is installed in the rear
hub, which means that its components do
not have to be cleaned separately.
Suspension components
• Clean the suspension elements with a
clean and lightly oiled cloth or soft brush.
• Lubricate the suspension elements with an
original lubricant from the suspension ele-
ment manufacturer after every cleaning,
after cycling in the rain or after they have
become very wet for any other reason.
