Before the first ride

After purchasing your e-bike, make sure that
your e-bike is ready for use and adjusted to
you. In addition, familiarize yourself with
your new e-bike before taking your first ride.
6.1 Checking the e-bike and
adjusting it to the cyclist
The following points must be checked
before the first ride:
• Fasten the wheel set in the frame and
fork.
„ Have all parts that were delivered in
an unassembled state mounted by your
FLYER specialist dealer.
„ Ask your FLYER specialist dealer
to explain to you exactly how the wheel
set and all the affected components are
correctly and securely fastened with the
installed quick releases or quick-release
axles.
• Also carry out a check as described in
chapter 7.1 "Before each ride".
If your e-bike is ready for use and in perfect
condition, make sure it is set up correctly for
you.
WARNING!
Risk of accident and injury
Using an e-bike that is not suitable for
you or that is incorrectly adjusted can
result in accidents and serious injuries.
• Only use e-bikes whose frame size
fits you. Pay special attention to hav-
ing enough freedom in the crotch
area. You must be able to descend
quickly without touching the frame.
The correct seating position depends on
your height, the frame size of the e-bike,
your cycling preferences and the settings of
your e-bike.
To achieve the right seating position for you,
observe the following key points:
• The knee of the upper leg and the arms
have about a 90° angle.
• The front knee is located above the axis
of the front pedal.
• Keep your arms relaxed and slightly bent
outward.
• You are sitting slightly bent forward (back
not perpendicular to the seat post).

The following adjustments must be made
before the first ride:
• Position and attachment of the saddle
and handlebars.
„ Have the saddle, handlebars and
stem adjusted by your FLYER specialist
dealer to a position that is safe and com-
fortable for you.
• Adjustment of the brakes.
„ Have the brake levers adjusted by
your FLYER specialist dealer so that you
can grip the brake levers well and brake
without fatigue.
WARNING!
Risk of accident and injury
The brake components, saddle, handle-
bars and stem are safety-related com-
ponents; faulty work and incorrect
tools can result in serious falls.
• Only have work on the above-men-
tioned components carried out by a
FLYER specialist dealer.
16 For more information on adjusting the saddle and
handlebars, see chapters 17.1 "Adjusting the saddle"
and 18.1 "Adjusting the handlebars".

chapter 14 "Brakes".
