Make sure that you are yourself grounded to avoid any electrostatic
ƒ
charging of the components. You will cause a discharge for instance by
touching a radiator since heating installations are grounded.
Prior to any soldering procedure, clean the bit of your soldering iron on
ƒ
both sides by removing any residues of flux and soldering tin, possibly by
wiping it on spiral wool, a temperature-resistant moist sponge or cloth.
Switch the soldering station on, set the temperature to approximately
ƒ
330 °C and wait until the soldering temperature is reached. Or simply
connect the soldering iron to the socket and have it thus heated.
When using an adjustable soldering iron, the temperature to select
ƒ
depends on the soldering tin used. Too high a temperature will burn the
flux. Please observe the relevant recommendations given by the manu-
facturer of the soldering tin.
Always heat the soldering joint first, or the component to be solde-
ƒ
red, using the bit of the soldering iron before feeding the soldering tin.
Hold the cable end with the tweezers and bring it together with solder
to the soldering joint.
Hold the soldering bit on the soldering joint, without applying any exces-
ƒ
sive load on the soldering pads so as to heat simultaneously the pad on
the conversion PCB and the wire to be connected to it. Leave the sol-
dering bit on the soldering joint and feed some soldering tin after 1 or
2 seconds. Do not remove the soldering tin and then the soldering bit
until the soldering tin flows and nicely surrounds the wire or the com-
ponent without forming a crater. Make sure you do not move the wire
or the component for approx. 5 further seconds after you have remo-
ved the soldering bit. Maintain the cable on the soldering joint until the
joint has cooled down.
Performing a soldering joint may not exceed 5 seconds at most, as
ƒ
otherwise components may be damaged or soldering lands may loo-
sen. In case you do not manage a soldering procedure within that time,
let the soldering joint completely cool down before having a second try.
Avoid as far as possible any direct contact of the soldering bit with the
ƒ
components.
Avoid touching neighbouring contacts with the bit of the soldering iron
ƒ
as otherwise malfunctions or damages may be caused on some com-
ponents.
