variation field (Hz) – page 101 (refer to terminal board connection
diagram sheet). Contact Italvibras technical staff for different
adjustments.
- Once the operation on the two sides has been carried out, re-mount
the covers on the screws and washers paying attention that the
seals are correctly positioned in their houses (Fig. 39).
ATTENTION: the seals used are incompatible with greases and
oils, minerals and synthetics. Therefore it is recommended NOT
to put the gaskets in contact with greases and oils, minerals
and synthetics. If necessary, use only silicone based oils and
greases.
4.2 START-UP AND SHUTDOWN OF THE VIBRATOR
DURING USE
Start-up takes place by always and only acting on the power supply
switch by positioning it in the ON position (insertion of the power
supply network).
The vibrator works.
Stop the vibrator by always and only acting on the power supply
switch by positioning it in the OFF position (disconnection of the
power supply network).
SECTION 5 –
Maintenance of the vibrator
ITALVIBRAS vibrators have no particular need for maintenance.
Only authorised technicians can intervene on the parts that
make up the vibrator.
Before carrying out maintenance on the vibrator wait until the
temperature of the vibrator case is not above +40° C and ensure
that the electrical power supply has been disconnected.
If parts must be replaced, only ITALVIBRAS original spare parts
must be used.
5.0 BEARING REPLACEMENT
We recommend to replace both bearings even if one bearing only is
defective, normally the other bearing would fail in a short time.
During the repairing check the conditions of all parts, replace them
if necessary.
Switch-off the power supply from the vibrator, dismount it from the
machine, remove the weight covers and the OR seals (fig.37, page
13), mark position of eccentric weights and disassemble them (fig.38,
page 13) with keys.
5.0.1 Frame sizes 00-01-10-AF10-20-30 & 35-40-50 (6,8,10,12 poles)
These vibrators have ball and shielded bearings that are pre-lubri-
cated for life.
Remove the two seeger rings mounted on the flanges near to the
bearings (in frame sizes 35-40-50 there aren't seegers). Press the
shaft from one side (Fig.34, page 12). The shaft will drag at one
bearing while one remains in its flange. Remove the bearing from
the shaft and remove the other bearing from the flange. Check the
bearing seats in the flange and in the shaft. If they are worn the motor
group or the shaft must be replaced.
Take new original ball bearings.
Press the first new bearing in a flange paying attention that it remains
just beyond the seat of the seeger ring, then mount the seeger ring.
ATTENTION: the shaft is not simmetrical: in one side the bearing seat
diameter is bigger than the other side. In the bigger seat the bearing
has to be pressed into it, in the other seat the bearing enter free.
Press mount the second new bearing in the bigger seat (Fig.35,
page 12).
Introduce the shaft with the second bearing into the motor group

(Fig.36, page 12) and press until shaft is in its final position. Assemble

with keys adjusting in the marked position, mount seals and weight
covers. Turn the shaft manually to ensure that it turns freely without
axial play.
5.0.2 Frame sizes AF30-AF33 & 35-40-50 (2,4 poles) ... up to frame 120
These vibrators have roller bearings, already lubricated in the factory
by ITALVIBRAS.
The roller bearing is composed by an inner ring on the shaft and
an outer part (outer bearing) in the flange. For frame sizes 105, 110
and 120 remove the labyrinth seals on the shaft (fig.39, page 13).
Remove a flange from the casing using the 2 threaded extraction
holes (Fig.40, page 13). Pull out the shaft (fig.41, page 13) and than
extract the second flange in the same way of the other. In each flange
extract the snap ring and push out outer bearing and bearing cover
through the bearing extraction holes (Fig.42, page 13).
Type MVSI 10/13000-S02, frame sizes 110 and 120 have no snap
ring, but 4-6 fixing screws.
Remove both inner bearings from the shaft using an extractor (Fig.43,
page 13). Clean all pieces removing old grease. Check the bearing
seat in the flange and in the shaft. If flange and/or shaft are worn
replace them. Heat the new inner rings and place them on the shaft,
push the outer bearings into the flanges with the bearing cover and
snap ring or screws.
On re-mounting the bearings (inner and outer parts) pay attention
that they rest correctly on the stroke of their seat.
Apply the new grease (see type in paragraph 5.1) in the quantity
prescribed in the «Technical Features» table (page 107-115) spreading
deeply inside the bearing applying pressure to allow penetration of
the grease into the rolling parts. Half fill the chamber between the
bearing cover and the bearing with grease.
ATTENTION: avoid grease contaminations, external particles
may strongly reduce the bearing life.
Place some grease on the flange diameter and some on the casing
diameter to make easier the flange assembling. Place some grease
also on the bearing inner rings.
Introduce the first flange in the casing, using a press or by using
fixing threads with longer screws. Keep the flange orthogonal to
the casing.
Introduce the shaft into the casing with paying attention not to touch
the wounded stator.
Introduce the second flange into the casing, by keeping the
flange orthogonal to the shaft, otherwise the roller bearing could
be damaged (Fig. 39, page 13).
For frame sizes 105, 110 and 120, assemble the labyrinth seals
by means of LOCTITE 200M to fix it on the shaft.
Complete the assembling of the eccentric weights with keys adju-
sting in the marked position, mount seals and weight covers.
Pay attention that the seals are correctly positioned in their
seats. Control the state of the seals during this operation and
replace them if necessary.
Turn the shaft manually and ensure that it has axial play between
0.5 and 1.5 mm.
ATTENTION: Every time the afore-mentioned maintenance ope-
rations are carried out it is recommended that all disassembled
screws and spring washers are replaced and that the screws
are tightened using a dynamometric wrench.
5.1 LUBRICATION
All bearings are correctly lubricated on mounting the vibrator.
Vibrators with spherical ball bearings (bearing type indicated from
page 107 for each vibrator type) are lubricated for life.
For vibrators with roller bearings the user can choose between
two possible alternatives:
- do not relubricate (FOR-LIFE system): choice advisable only in presence
of low duty conditions or in cases where the re-lubrication is impossible,
