n) Checking the centre of gravity
Due to the construction of the model, the centre of gravity is preset. It is
located approx. 85 mm behind the leading edge of the upper wing. When
the model is lifted at this point at the right and the left of the fuselage, it
should be horizontal.
If necessary, the centre of gravity can be shifted by adding lead weights
at the tip of the fuselage or the rear fuselage. However, only experienced
model pilots should modify the position of the centre of gravity in order to
specifically adjust the behaviour of the model to individual preferences
and steering habits.
o) Adjusting the speed controller
The speed controller (1) is equipped with a battery cable (2) and a 2-pole
connector cable (3). This connector has three open pins and is thus
programmed to detect undervoltage of a 3-cell LiPo rechargeable battery.
If you short-circuit this connector using a jumper (not included in delivery),
the speed controller will be programmed for 2-cell LiPo rechargeable
batteries.
For better illustration, the speed controller is shown detached
from the model.
Practical tip:
Self-adhesive Velcro tape has proved ideal to attach the speed controller.
The fleecy part is attached to the speed controller.
Use the jumper to determine at what voltage the speed controller will
switch off the motor to prevent the flight battery from being totally
discharged.
When the jumper is connected, the switch-off voltage is 6 V. Take this setting when using a 2-cell LiPo flight battery.
When the jumper is not connected, the switch-off voltage is 9 V. Take this setting when using a 3-cell LiPo flight battery.
Important information!
Since the model is operated with a 3-cell rechargeable battery, the jumper must be removed. See illustration.
Then cut a small piece of foam out of the packing and put it onto the open pins. After securing everything by wrapping a strip of adhesive tape around it, the pins
are perfectly secured against damage or short-circuits.
No further settings can be made on the speed controller.
