C 1000 OPERATION MANUAL
About This Manual
The purpose of this manual is to provide operation and
maintenance guidelines for the compressor. Information
on the installation of the compressor is included in the
Planning & Installation Manual (CCN 80446081). Also
Product Description
An air compressor takes in air at atmospheric pressure
and delivers it at a higher pressure.
Safety
WARNING
Failure to observe these safety guidelines could
expose personnel to potentially hazardous situations
which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious
injury.
General Workplace Safety

The information presented in this manual should
be used in conjunction with your workplace safety
program.
•
It is the responsibility of each individual to ensure
that they work in a safe manner and in compliance
with any local law or site regulations.
•
Keep the work area clear of hazards.
•
Assess hazards, make a list, and discuss with
appropriate personnel.
•
Know how to quickly contact emergency assistance.
Documentation, Decals & Tags
•
Read and understand this manual before handling
and installing this product.
•
Locate, read and understand all hazard alert symbols,
text decals and tags which point out items of
extreme importance to personal safety.
•
It is your responsibility to make this information
available to others.
•
If you have any questions about safety or procedures
not included in this manual, ask your supervisor
or contact any Ingersoll Rand office or qualified
Ingersoll Rand distributor.
Personal Protective Equipment & Attire
•
Wear personal protective equipment that is
appropriate for the task (i.e. safety glasses with side
shields, respirator, hearing protection, cut resistant
gloves, safety shoes) at all times.

Long hair must be tied back or otherwise secured.
•
Clothing must be close-fitting.
•
Do not wear jewelry.
Safety Information — When Operating the
Compressor
•
Do not operate the compressor at pressures in
excess of its rating as indicated on the compressor
nameplate.
•
Do not operate the compressor at speeds in excess
of its rating as indicated on the driver nameplate.
•
Do not play with compressed air. Pressurized air can
cause serious injury to personnel.
•
Do not use the discharge air for breathing.
•
Do not operate the compressor in areas where
there is a possibility of the compressor ingesting
flammable or toxic fumes.
•
Do not remove any guards, shields, or screens while
the compressor is operating. Do not operate the
compressor without guards, shields, and screens in
place.
•
Periodically check all safety relief valves, gauges and
other regulating devices for proper operation.
•
Do not remove or render inoperative, other than for
the purpose of maintenance, repair or replacement,
any safety relief valves, gauges and other regulating
devices.
•
Do not operate the machine after any safety device
or element of design has been removed or rendered
inoperative.
•
Surface temperature of the volutes and air interstage
and discharge passages are extremely high
when operating. Even after being shutdown the
compressor these surfaces should not be touched for
one hour.
