Inputs
The MOC3SA has a total of eight inputs.
The speed monitoring sensors (e.g. PNP proximity sensors, HTL incremental encoders) are
connected to inputs I1 to I4. The different operating modes are configured via the assign-
ment of the inputs S1, S2 and, depending on the operating mode, using the spare inputs
I2 to I4 (see section 3.4 "Operating modes" on page 86).
The inputs I5 and I6 are intended to be used for the operating modes "automatic reset/
manual reset", with and without external device monitoring (EDM) (see section 3.8.3
"External device monitoring (EDM)" on page 100) and for the enabling switch.
In principle the following applies to all inputs on the MOC3SA:
• On the usage of different voltage supplies for sensor and MOC3SA it is necessary to
connect the GND connections using a low impedance connection.
• It is to be noted that the duration of the signal applied (HIGH pulse) must be greater than
200 Zs.
Requirements on the sensors: The sensors or the signal producing devices connected
should be PNP proximity sensors or HTL incremental encoders that comply with the
applicable standards. These standards are, e.g. for proximity sensors EN 60 947[5[2 or
EN 60 947[5[3 and for programmable logic controllers IEC 61 131.
