Setting the speed limit f

The input frequency is set using the rotary switches X and Y and multiplied by the device
factor.

Minimum speed limit f
Limit
(rotary switch X and Y in position "0")
Desired speed limit
Rotary switch X (10 × X)
Rotary switch Y (1 × Y)

Please observe the measuring accuracy for the frequency measurement (see chapter 11
"Technical specifications" on page 132).

Safety outputs (Q1 to Q4)

The Speed Monitor MOC3SA has four safe semiconductor outputs, organised into two
output pairs (Q1/Q2, Q3/Q4).
After dropping below the configured f
Q1/Q2 has a HIGH level, the inverted output pair Q3/Q4 has a LOW level.
If the configured f
is exceeded, the status of the outputs changes without enable
Limit
(reset). The output pair Q1/Q2 changes from HIGH to LOW and the inverted output pair
Q3/Q4 changes from LOW to HIGH.
• output Q1 and Q2, safety-related
• output Q3 and Q4, inverted to Q1/Q2
In typical applications, only the outputs Q1/Q2 are used. The outputs Q3/Q4 are only to be
used in safety applications if additional safety assessments are made.
On the occurrence of a serious error in the device or the failure of the voltage supply,
all safety-related outputs Q1 to Q4 switch off (LOW level at the terminals). It is impera-
tive this situation is taken into account on assessing the safety functions on a machine
or system.
Serious injury may occur due to breakdown of safety outputs or loss of required safety
functions.
• Do not connect loads that exceed the rated value of the safety outputs.
• Connect the GND wires from the power supply to A2 so that the devices do not switch
on if the safety output wire is at ground potential in case of an error.
• Actuators on the outputs can be single-channel wired. To maintain the related safety
level the cables must be laid such that cross-circuits to other electrical signals can
be excluded, e.g. by laying in protected areas such as in a control cabinet or in sepa-
rate plastic-sheathed cables (see chapter 5 "Electrical installation" on page 106).
