Solution
The computer
When turning the power pack on (via the mains switch on the
doesn't start when back of the ATX power pack), the mainboard only carries
the power pack
standby voltage.
is turned on
Only briefly pressing the power button on the front of the PC
housing turns the ATX power pack on (inasmuch as the pow-
er buttonis connectedwith the corresponding connection of
your mainboard).
Therefore, check the correct connection of the power button
with the mainboard.

Observe the above restrictions with the individual operating volt-
ages under all circumstances! It is not possible to use the maxi-
mum currents with each other!
The capacities in the +3.3 V and +5 V range may not exceed 180 W.
• Voltage connections (the number of 5.25" and 3.5" power plugs may possibly
change with newer versions of the power pack):
- 7 * 5.25"
- 2 * 3.5"
- 1*ATX (for mainboard)
- 1*4-pole ATX2.0-12V plug (only for mainboards with the corresponding connection)
• Mains switch on the back of the device
• Integrated 80 mm cooler for carrying of the warm air
• Active PFC (Power Factor Correction)

In commercial institutions, make sure you observe the accident prevention regula-
tions of the commercial trade organisation for electric installations.
In schools, training facilities, hobby and self-help workshops, qualified personnel
needs to supervise the operation of the product.

3. Function Description

The PC ATX switched mode power pack converts mains voltage (230V~/50Hz) into
the alternate currents internally required by the computer (+5V, +12V, -5V, -12V and
+3.3V).
An integrated fan carries off the excess heat generated during this conversion to the
outside.
You can turn the product on and off via the mains switch.
However, the computer doesn't start as soon as the mains switch is
turned on. First, both the power pack and the connected mainboard
are in so-called "standby" operation. In order to start the computer,
press the power button on the front of your ATX housing briefly. The
button must be connected to the corresponding connection on your
mainboard via a cable (e.g. connection "ATX power" or similar, refer to
the operating instructions for your mainboard).
When you turn your computer off with the power button, your main-
board still carries standby voltage.
For example, this is required for switching the PC on via the keyboard
or the mouse (insofar as the BIOS of your PC provides this possibility)
of the automatic switching on / starting up in case of a modem/ISDN
call/network access (depending on the BIOS, hardware and software).
In case of work on your computer (e.g. if you want to install a new
plug&play card), you therefore have to turn the power pack off via the
mains switch on the back of the power pack and separate it from the
mains voltage. Always pull the mains plug additionally! Otherwise you
may destroy the mainboard and other PC components.
