4.1
Construction
Electrical connection: The electrical connection is made
via a cable with or without plug (see Type codeon
page 36).
Housing: Aluminum housing with plastic end plates.
Housing length: Measurement range + 10 mm.
Mounting: Holes are provided in the BMP for mounting
with M2 mounting screws or sliding blocks (see
Accessories on page 35).
Target: Defines the position to be measured.
Measurement range: In order to optimally adapt the
BMP to the application, the following measurement ranges
are available: 32/64/96/128/160/192/224/256 mm. For
repeat accuracy and linearity errors the values listed in the
Technical data (see Section 10.1 on page 33) must be
observed.
Detection range: Range in which the BMP detects the
position of the position magnet. It exceeds the
measurement range by 4 mm on both sides. If a radial
magnetizable position magnet is used, the detection range
may be smaller.
The detection range beyond the measurement
range is only displayed on the IO-Link interface.

The BMP is an intelligent magnetic field positioning system.
It is mainly used for the contactless detection of the piston
stroke of pneumatic cylinders, grippers and slides with
axial or radial magnetizable permanent magnets. The BMP
ensures a continuous, absolute position measurement in
application-relevant measurement accuracy.
The BMP has an IO-Link interface and an easy-to-adjust
switching output. Depending on the version (see Type
code on page 36), the BMP also has an easy-to-
evaluate analog output, which can be switched between
voltage and current.
The parameters of the BMP can be set and adjusted
without additional tools using the button and the three
LEDs.
Via the IO-Link interface the BMP provides further setting
and adjustment options and status monitoring functions.
With its functions the BMP supports the simple format
change in various applications.
