When planning PROFINET devices, a device is depicted as a modular system with a header
module and several data modules. The illustrations shown here are examples from the
configuration software Totally Integrated Automation Portal (TIA Portal)and SIMATIC-Manager of
Siemens AG and are examples only. The actually required settings depend on the application
and are the responsibility of the user. Connecting the BNI IOF-329-P02-Z038 must always be
done through a Balluff IO-Link master (see Section 18.1 Possible selection of IO-Link master
modules on page 107).
Note
For information on handling and configuring the Balluff IO-Link master refer to the
respective IO-Link master manual.
The device data required for project planning is saved in GSDML files (Generic Station
Description Markup Language). These GSDML IO-Link master files are available at no cost by
downloading from www.balluff.com.
Note
There is no separate GSDML file for the IO-Link devices connected to the IO-Link
master module. All the device data needed for the safe I/O module
BNI IOF-329-P02-Z038 - BNI0098 are already included in the GSDML file for the
Balluff IO-Link master module.
The GSDML file provides the data modules available for the respective IO-Link master module
(in- or output process data with correspondingly varied data widths). These can be assigned to
the slots/ports on the master as required by the application. The information needed for
communication with the safe I/O module BNI IOF-329-P02-Z038 - BNI0098 is available as a
data module BNI IOF-329-P02-Z038 contained in the GSDML file for the Balluff IO-Link master
module.
The safety module BNI IOF-329-P02-Z038 can be inserted in the folder Device view (device
overview) added via drag&drop to any IO-Link port of the compatible Balluff IO-Link master as a
new IO-Link data module. The device data for the safe I/O module are located in the hardware
catalog of the configuration software. Instead of searching in the hardware tree structure, you
can also use the part number or order code for the safe I/O module to search directly for the
device data (separate search field).
Note
Before assigning to the desired slot the default entry Standard I/O must be deleted on
the IO-Link master module (see Configuring the slot, step 1 on page 39).
Note
The slot number in the view of the configuration software may differ from the name of
the IO-Link port.
