14. Handling the Car
a) The first test drive
Operate the lever for the drive function very cautiously and do not drive too fast at the begin-
ning until you get used to the reactions of the car.
Do not make quick jerky movements on the operating elements of the remote control.
If the vehicle shows a tendency to pull towards the left or the right, adjust the steering trim on
the transmitter accordingly.
After the first trial run, the steering can be readjusted by resetting the steering link, so that the
car runs in a straight line and the steering trim on the transmitter is in the centre position again.
If the steering behaviour of the vehicle does not correspond to your expectations, you can
increase or reduce the steering radius by modifying the steering point on the steering servo or
by setting the Dual Rate function on the transmitter.
b) Stopping the drive
To stop the drive, proceed as follows:
• In practice it has proven useful to continue driving until the tank is completely empty and the engine
stops by itself.
• If it is necessary to stop the engine manually, let the vehicle come to a halt; remove the car body and
pinch the fuel pipe leading to the carburettor with your fingers until the engine stops due to fuel short-
age.
When the engine stops, put the On/Off switch on the vehicle in the "OFF" position.
Never touch the engine or the exhaust system, risk of burns!
• Now (and not before) you can turn off the transmitter.
Caution!
Stop driving right away when you notice unusual responses of the vehicle to the control com-
mands on the transmitter or when the vehicle no longer responds.
This behaviour could be caused by a weak receiver battery, weak batteries/rechargeable bat-
teries in the remote control or by too high a distance between car and remote control.
An antenna that was not pulled out all the way, disturbances on the radio channel used (e.g.
other models, radio transmissions through other devices) or adverse transmission/reception
conditions could also be a cause for unusual responses of the vehicle.
