5 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Before Use

Once you have connected the EXAConnecT access
point either directly to a PC or to a firm-specific net-
work as well as to the power supply (see Mounting),
the EXAConnecT is ready for operation.
Once the PC has been started, all network settings
are made and the security certificate is confirmed
(see Mounting > Connections of the EXAConnecT >
Setting of the Network Parameters), the Java applet
is loaded via an Internet browser. You now have ac-
cess to the EXAConnecT access point.
Before you are able to carry out and check screw fas-
tenings, the screwdriver has to be connected to the
power supply and switched on.
For this purpose, read and take note of the op-
erating instructions of the Bosch industrial re-
chargeable battery-operated screwdriver that
you are using.
General Remarks about the Program
The following description refers to Software Version
1.91.200. In this version, the terms EXAConnecT and
Access Point are used synonymously.
The designation of the buttons that are used in this
description may depart from that on your PC display
screen, depending on the language of the Java ap-
plet that you are using.
The program has three basic display screen win-
dows:
– Viewing windows with
EXAConnecT, and Screwdriver Register Cards
(only when at least one screwdriver is ready for
operation and is logged on) for process monitor-
ing.
– The setup window EXAConnecT Setup for config-
uration of the access point and for logging on
screwdrivers
– The setup window Screwdriver Setup for general
settings of the individual screwdrivers
From the EXAConnecT and Screwdriver Register
Cards, it is possible, by a mouse click on the Setup
button, to switch to the corresponding setup win-
dow. All control functions in the various display
screen views may also be activated via correspond-
ing buttons.
When the program is started, the main window is
opened, initially with the register cards
– Overview
– EXAConnecT.
Note: When the power supply to the access point is
interrupted (e.g., by pulling out the mains plug), the
Java applet has to be restarted!

Overview Register Card
The Overview Register Card can display at most 8
data fields.

The first field contains all of the information about the
EXAConnecT access point, including the connected
hardware. When the program is started, the Over-
view Register Card shows only this data field.
All additional fields represent the data of the BT
screwdrivers that are logged on. At most 7 data
fields for screwdrivers are possible. Only when a
screwdriver is logged on does its data field appear in
the Overview Register Card as well. At the same time,
a register card is created for the screwdriver.
By clicking the mouse on the corresponding tab, it is
possible to switch to the card view of the
EXAConnecT access point or of the desired screw-
driver.
EXAConnecT Data Field
The data field shown on the left relates to the
EXAConnecT access point. Displayed first is the pro-

Overview,
tocol system that is used, 33 (e.g., Mode: STAND-
ALONE), which reveals how the screwdriving data is
deposited in the EXAConnecT access point or is
transferred to an external database.
The following descriptions apply only to the protocol
system STAND-ALONE. Please inform yourself
about other customer-specific protocols at your spe-
cialty dealer for Bosch industrial tools.
In addition, the data field shows the additional hard-
ware that is connected to the COM1 and COM2 serial
interfaces (e.g., COM1: barcode scanner). If no addi-
tional hardware is connected, "not used" is shown
there.

The system state 34 reports the
readiness of the system or shows
the status codes (see Status Codes)
in analogy to those shown in the
display 1 of the access point. If
several status codes apply, the
display thereof alternates cyclically
in intervals of two seconds.
