Switching mixer on/off
By not obser ving the correct procedure when turning the mixing
desk on and off you could damage the loudspeakers or the ampli-
fier.
Switching on:
• Make sure that all channel faders are adjusted to the minimum volume (channel
fader right down).
• Switch on first those reproduction appliances that are already connected to the
mixer.
• Switch the mixing desk on. Whether by mains operation with on and off switch
(44), or during battery operation with the AC/BATT switch (47) the operational dis-
play will light up.
• Switch on the connected amplifier and the recording device (connected to the
REC jacks). This appliance is now ready for operation.
Switching off:
• To switch off the mixer, turn the volume of the amplifier first of all to minimum.
• Switch off the amplifier.
• Switch the mixing desk off. For mains operation with on and off switch (44), For
battery operation with the AC/BATT switch (47). The display will go out.
• Finally turn the reproduction appliances (record player, CD player, etc) off.
• If you are not planning to use the mixing desk for a longer period of time, pull the
plug out of the wall socket and remove any batteries that were previously inserted.
Setting input signal
Using the input level controls, match up the mixer input to the output signal of the
reproduction device connected.
The following description refers to fader channel 1, but can be applied to all fader
channels.
• Slide the MAIN fader control (51) down completely (minimum).
• Slide the channel fader control (12) down completely (minimum).
• Turn the GAIN controls (4) completely to the left (position 20dB)
• Connect an audio signal typical to the channel, e.g. a line signal from a keyboard
or CD player.
• Slide the channel fader (12) to postion 0dB.
• Slide the MAIN control (51) to postion 0dB.
• Turn the GAIN controls (4) slowly to the right
• You can set the channel signal level using the control "GAIN" (4) . Using the
sound controls (6), (7), (8) you can alter the sound of the channel signal.

Be aware that only one type of signal can be connected to each mono
channel, in other words either the LINE input or the microphone input.
Both inputs cannot be connected simultaneously.
(3) INSERT socket
The INSERT socket is a loop-in function, that allows you to integrate an effects unit e.g.
equalizer, dynamic processor, etc into the mixing desks signal. The mixing desk signal
is split and fed out via the effect unit and then redirected as an altered signal back to the
mixing desk. INSERT signals are fed out and back in with stereo jack plugs.
(4) GAIN control
You can adjust the input levels with the GAIN controls. Set the level so that the PEAK
indicator(5) only lights up occasionally.
• Position „20" = minimum level
• Position „60" = maximum level
(5) PEAK indicator
The red PEAK LED indicator lights up if the channel signal level is too high. The PEAK
indicator is located explicitly at the top of the fader slide controls. The LED lights up
when the signal is approx. 3dB short of clipping (distorting), thereby warning you
beforehand of any possible overloading.
