All connected appliances must be disconnected from the mains before servicing or
repairs.
The outside of the appliance should be cleaned with a clean dry cloth or brush only.
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions, which could damage
the housing or impair operation.
Check the technical safety of the appliance regularly, e.g. for damage to the housing
or the power cable etc.
If you have reasons to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, then dis-
connect the appliance immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation.
It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
• the product shows visible signs of damage,
• the appliance ceases to function
• when the appliance has been stored for long periods of time under unfavourable
conditions or
• when the appliance was subjected to unsuitable conditions of transport
Disposal
Once the product becomes unusable, dispose of it in accordance with the relevant
statutory regulations.
Disposal of flat batteries/accumulators
You, as the end user, are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all spent
batteries/accumulators.Disposing of spent batteries/accumulators in the house-
hold waste is prohibited!
Batteries/accumulators containing hazardous substances are marked
by the opposite symbols. These symbols also indicate that it is prohi-
bited to dispose of these batteries in the household waste. The heavy
metals concerned are: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead. You

can return dead batteries/accumulators free of charge to the collec-
tion points in your community, our branches or anywhere else where
batteries or accumulators are sold.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and make your contribution to the protection
of the environment.

Do not place any containers with liquid near to the appliance, for exam-
ple glasses or vases. Never pour out any liquids above the appliance.
Never place small objects, e.g. coins, paper clips etc., on the appliance
as they could fall inside it. You run the risk of causing a fire or a fatal
electric shock! If any liquid or any object penetrates into the appliance
disconnect the mains plug immediately and contact a specialist.
Only a 230~V/50Hz mains socket may be used as the source of power
for the plug-in power unit. Never try to operate the appliance with ano-
ther voltage.
Always pull the plug-in power unit out of the socket by the casing, never
by the cable!
The plug-in power unit may never be plugged in or out with wet hands.
Electrical appliances must be kept out of the reach of children. Pay par-
ticular attention if children are present. Children are not aware of the
potential danger associated with the incorrect handling of electrical
appliances. Children could attempt to poke objects into the appliance.
Caution, risk of a fatal electric shock!
Always unplug the plug-in power unit from the mains socket!

- if you will not be using the appliance for a longer period (>1 week)
Never operate the appliance unsupervised.
Never place the appliance on an unstable or movable surface. If it fell,
persons could be injured or the appliance damaged.
Live components may be exposed if covers are opened or parts are
removed (unless this can be done without tools). Contact points may
also be live. If the appliance needs to be opened for calibrating, servi-
cing, repairing or replacing parts or assemblies, it must be disconnec-
ted from all sources of current first. If servicing or repairs on an open
and live appliance are unavoidable, these may only be carried out by a
specialist who is famitions.
