5.2.1 Important Notes

5.2.1.1 Check for Completeness

When accepting the electric power generator set check it for compliance with the delivery list. Unpack the unit and check it for absence of damage.
5.2.1.2 Preparation of the Electric Power Generator Set with Automatic System for Assembly
In order to prevent accidental startup and other undesirable events during connection of the electric power generator unit with automatic starting system, perform the following actions:
– Disconnect the storage battery from the electric power generator unit.
– Set the mode switch in the switch box of the electric power generator unit to the off position (O).
5.2.1.3 Safety Engineering When Operating a Diesel Engine
The size of the premise and arrangement conditions of the electric power generator unit (frame, fuel tank, fresh air intake and exhaust gas outlet appliances) should correspond to all effective local requi-
rements.
5.2.2 Arrangement of Electric Power Generator Unit
There are distinguished two methods of arrangement of the electric power generator unit:
- On an open ground
- Inside premise
It is necessary to perform all the requirements of the local specific rules and norms of the local authorities (fire service and other organizations).

5.2.2.1 Arrangement of Electric Power Generator Unit on an Open Ground

This method of arrangement of an electric power generator unit (except cases of arrangement in special containers and except special weatherproof electric power generator units) should envisage relia-
ble protection from dust and atmospheric precipitation. Avoid direct sun rays that could lead to overheating.
One of the solutions is erecting a shed over the electric power generator unit. In case of arranging the electric power generator unit for a short time, it is possible to simply install it on an even bed. When
installing the electric power generator unit for a long time, it is desirable to build up a concrete foundation.
The requirements to the foundation are presented in the corresponding para of the Instructions (5.2.2.3).
