The mash tun becomes hot when in opera-
tion! Always use heat-insulating pot holders
when gripping the handles .
Never dip the mash tun into water . Always pro-
tect the electric power cable from moisture .
Children do not understand the dangers of
electrical appliances . Never leave children un-
supervised in the same room as the electrical
appliance, and exercise special caution when
children are nearby .
This appliance is intended for domestic use
only and not for professional/commercial use .
The manufacturer accepts no liability for use
of the appliance for other purposes than tho-
se described in the Instructions for Use or for
improper use .
GEnERAL InfoRMATIon
Volume: the BIELMEIER mash tun holds a
volume of 29 L . The maximum allowed liquid
level is 4 cm below the upper rim .
The mash tun can be used for many other
purposes besides brewing beer: preserving,
heating in a water bath, preparing hot drinks,
cooking, reheating, blanching vegetables etc .
Liquids containing sugar or starch tend to burn
on to the vessel . When heating such liquids,
constant stirring is necessary .
In the event that your mash tun boils dry, a built-
in circuit breaker will protect the heating ele-
ment from overheating . Allow the appliance to
cool down completely before adding any liquid .
If you add liquid to the hot, dry vessel, there is a
danger of scalding by steam, and a risk of dama-
ge (deformation) to the bottom of the vessel .
For hygienic reasons , you should boil about 6
l of water for about 15 minutes in the mash tun
before using it the first time – set the thermo-
stat (4) to "
", set the switch (8) to "
activate the device by turning the timer (7) .
The mash tun may produce a slight smell on first
use, which should go away after it has been in
operation for a short while .
The malt mill can also be used to produce flour
and crush grains for cereal .

Please clean the inside of the pots (2) , (14)
before using them for the first time . Follow
the instructions in the "Cleaning and Main-
tenance" section (S. 20) .
Fill the mash tun (2) before switching it on .
Do not over-fill the mash tun (2) . Fill it so that
the liquid is no higher than 4 cm below the
rim . overflowing liquid is dangerous and
can damage the mash tun.
Liquids can be removed from the pots by
scooping out or via the drain tap (9) . never
tip the pots!

The taps
for the mash tun (BhG 040001) and
the lauter-/fermenting tun (BhG 040002) are in-
cluded in the package .
Please install the taps such that the silicone
gasket is placed on the inside of the vessel in
the recess of the fastening nut . The nut must be
tightened in the lauter-/fermenting tun (BhG
40002) with one flat side of the six-edged nut
facing upward, so that the strainer insert can sit
horizontally in the vessel .
CLEAnInG AnD MAInTEnAnCE
Never dip the mash tun (BhG 040001) into water
(fig. 1)! To clean it, first unplug the mains plug (6) .
Wipe the outside of the mash tun with a damp
cloth . The inside of the mash tun, the lauter-/fer-
menting tun and the strainer insert should all be
washed with water, adding detergent if necessary
and rinsing well . Any limescale deposits (e . g . from
using the appliance to boil preserves) can be re-
moved periodically using a solution of vinegar or
a descaling agent . After descaling, always rinse
the vessel out by boiling some plain water in it .
Remove the cleaning liquid by scooping it out

never tip the pots (fig.2)!
After every use, the drain tap (9) must be rinsed
with hot water . You may add detergent or soda
to the water . It is also possible to clean the inside
of the tap with pipe cleaners and to sterilize it
using 70% ethanol .
