5.3 DETERMINATION OF THE ROW DISTANCE
MAGICA 9 rows
The Magica 9 row planting unit was designed along the lines of
the 8 row version, adding a ninth seeding element, fastened at the
centre of the machine. The interrows, 45 - 50 - 60 cm (Fig. 23), are
obtained by moving the 8 side elements.
It is of vital importance that all maintenance, adjustments and
preparatory operations be carried out with the tractor's power
take-off disconnected, the planting unit resting on the ground
on its support feet, the tractor engine off, the vehicle completely
motionless and the ignition key removed. All of the above descri-
bed operations must be performed by skilled personnel wearing
protective gloves in a clean, dust-free environment. Before putting
the equipment into operation, check the area around the machine
to ensure that there are no people, especially children or small
domestic animals, nearby and to ensure that visibility is perfect.
5.3.1 MAGICA 9 rows 45-50 cm
The following operations must be carried out with the machine off.
To set the row spacing, proceed as follows:
1) Operate the hydraulic system to close the seeding elements
and then open the side toolbars.
2) Position the upper pins in the holes corresponding to the row
spacing to be set (Fig. 18).
3) To mount slabs of ne inferior race (A, Fig. 19), in correspon-
dence of the relative references you to the row spacing set up.
4) Operate the hydraulic system to open the elements up to the
stop, determined by the position of the pins.
5) To regulate the perpendicularity of the element of seeds (Fig.
19-20), recording the screw (B, Fig. 18) to block with nut (C).
6) To close and to reopen the elements of seed along the chas-
sis, in order to verify the correct order of the external seeding
elements.

USE AND MAINTENANCE
5.3.2 MAGICA 9 rows 60 cm
The following operations must be carried out with the ma-
chine off.
To set the planting interrow spacing, proceed as follows:
1) Activate the tractor's hydraulic system to reclose the seeding
elements, then open the side frames.
2) Move the lower knuckle pins in the guide holes corresponding
to the interrow to be set (Example Fig. 22).
3) Position the upper pins in the holes corresponding to the
interrow to be set (Fig. 24).
4) Start up the hydraulic system in order to open the elements
until they strike home, once the position of the knuckle pins
and pins has been determined.
