3.6 Substance hazards
Risk of injury from certain substances!
Exhaust gas and oils can cause poisoning.
Safety measures:

Make the EU safety data sheets on all hazardous
substances accessible to your personnel.
¶
Observe the Ordinance on Hazardous Substances
and the EC safety data sheets on the substances
used.
¶
Observe local regulations.
¶
Ensure adequate ventilation.
¶
Only operate the brake tester or test lane with an ex-
traction device that is switched on and operational.
¶
As the operator, make sure that the extracted air
expelled to the outside is filtered.
¶
Do not eat, drink, smoke or snuff in the vicinity of
the brake tester or test lane.
¶
As the operator, provide appropriate personnel pro-
tection equipment.

Environmental hazards

Risk of injury from lightning!
Lightning can cause severe or fatal injury.
Safety measures:
¶
Observe the provisions for the intended use of the
brake tester or test lane in enclosed industrial buil-
dings.
¶
As the operator, provide protection from lightning.
3.8 Hazards posed by axles
Risk of crushing from rotating parts, moving
parts and surfaces grinding against each
other!
Safety measures:
¶
Reach into the hazard area of axles and cylinders
only if the instructions expressly say so.

3.9 Hazards posed by hydraulic equip-
ment
Risk of injury from liquids ejected under high
pressure!
Safety measures:
¶
As the operator, have the hydraulic hose assemblies
checked for defects regularly by trained customer
service personnel.
¶
As the operator, have the hose assemblies replaced
by trained customer service personnel in accordance
with the service life specifications of the manufac-
turer. The date of manufacture is indicated on the
lines.
3.10 Hazards posed by the control system
Hazards from faults or failure of the control
system!
Faults or failure of the control system can
cause the brake tester to start up unexpected-
ly.

Safety controls on the brake tester control and mo-
nitor safety-related functions.
Safety measures:
¶
Do not interfere with the safety controls.
¶
Only trained customer service personnel may modify
or repair the control system.
¶
Do not attempt to modify the electrical cabinet
yourself.
¶
Only trained customer service personnel may check
the safety controls for proper function after repairs.
