rotation offers stability and an increased sense of security for the patient. The resistance offered by
the Elastomer plates gives the patient an increased sense of stability and more security in the starting
position of the prosthetic foot.
7 Installing the DeltaTwist
7.1 General Information
To decrease inertial force and inertial moments, we recommend installing the DeltaTwist in the pros-
thesis as proximally as possible. The DeltaTwist can be installed both above and below the knee.
To ensure the function and safety of the DeltaTwist connection it is necessary to observe the recom-
mended torque values.
Proper use of the tube clamp and the socket adapter in connection with all Ottobock adapters fulfills
the load capacity requirements of ISO 10328. If the DeltaTwist is used in combination with parts from
other manufacturers', it is possible that the load capacity requirements of ISO 10328 cannot be fulfilled.
7.2 Using the socket adapter and adjustment screws
The contact surfaces of the adjustment pyramid and socket adapter must be clean and smooth.
It is possible to use the four adjustment screws to make static corrections during the installation,
trial fitting and even after the final fitting.
During disassembly or while changing the DeltaTwist the previously adjusted position can be maintained
if the two adjustment screws that are set the deepest, and which lie next to each other, are removed.
Adjustment screws in their final adjustment that stick out too far (and can possibly damage the
foam cover) or which are too short (and might endanger stability) should be replaced with better
fitting adjustment screws.
Adjustment screws are available in the following sizes.
Order number
506G3=M8x10
506G3=M8x12-V
506G3=M8x14
506G3=M8x16
Adjustment screws should only be lightly tightened (max. 1 Nm) for the initial adjustment of the adjust-
ment pyramid.
To tighten the adjustment screws, use a torque wrench such as the Ottobock 710 D4 and tighten
to 15 Nm. Apply Loctite 636K13 to the adjustment screws when final adjustments have been made.
7.3 Model 4R120 with tube clamp
The DeltaTwist with Tube clamp 4R120 can be installed both proximally and distally. If the Tube clamp
is fitted distally, make sure that the clamp screw lies at least 150 mm above the ankle axis. The Tube
clamp is oriented posteriorly and tightened to 10 Nm.
The Tube clamp acts a receptacle for either a tube, a tube adapter, or a connection adapter, which
can be inserted into the DeltaTwist up to the stop.
If a very low height is required we recommend using the 4R72=D or the 4R72=D-68 connection
adapter.
