d) Installing the aileron servo and the aileron linkage
Install the connecting rod (1) on a rudder horn (2) (second hole from the
top - widen the hole with a 1.5 mm drill if necessary) and on the servo
arm (3).
Determine the optimal position of the servo in the servo recess in the
wing (usually the centre). The servo arm (3) must point towards the exterior
of the wing.
Mark the optimal installation point for the rudder horn (2) in a straight
line.
When selecting the installation point, make sure that the linkage is straight
(ill. 4a, distance A = A) and that the holes of the rudder horn (2) are
exactly above the pivot of the flap (ill. 4b).
At the markings, drill suitable 2-mm holes for the rudder horn, cut the
long pins of the rudder horn to length and glue the rudder horn in place
using 5-minute epoxy resin. Now you can attach the servos (4) at the
servo centre with double-sided servo tape at the point of the wing where
the flap assumes an exactly neutral position.
Cut out the servo covers (5) along the markings, adjust them and attach
them on the servo recess using transparent tape. The cover must not
have contact to any part of the linkage (ill. 4c).
Standard remote controls can usually control only one servo
for the aileron function. If you use such a remote control,
both extension cables of the aileron servos have to be
combined to one plug, observing the polarity.
