technician
Intended purpose
Spinomed is a brace designed to actively
relieve load and correct the lumbar spine/
thoracic spine in the sagittal plane.
Indications
All indications requiring a relief and/or
correction of the lumbar/thoracic spine as
well as movement restriction in sagittal
and frontal plane:
• Osteoporotic collapse of thoracic and/or
lumbar vertebrae
• Juvenile Scheuermann's disease
• Kyphosis with chronic back pain

Contraindications

None known to date
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause
local pressure sores or constriction of
blood vessels or nerves. Therefore you
should consult the doctor treating you
before you use it if the following
circumstances apply to you:
• Condition or injury of the skin in the area
of application, particularly with infec-
tious indications (excessive heat, swel-
ling or reddening)
• Paraesthesia and circulatory disorders
(e.g. as seen in diabetes, varicose veins)
• Lymph drainage disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue adjacent to the
area of application which is not related
to a condition
When wearing snug-fitting aids, this can
result in localised skin inflammation or
irritation that is due to mechanical
irritation of the skin (particularly in
conjunction with sweating) or due to the
composition of the material.

Intended patient groups
Healthcare professionals should provide
care to the adults and children, applying
the available information on the
measurements/sizes and necessary
functions/indications and in line with
the information provided by the
manufacturer, and acting under their
own responsibility.
Fitting the orthosis
(this should be carried out only by an
orthopedic technician!)
Wear the orthosis over your clothes.
The back brace does not need to be
removed from the pocket during
adjustment. Hold the back brace against
the patient's back so that the lower edge
of the brace is level with the coccyx. The
upper edge should reach to approx.
– cm below C . The back brace is
formable when cold and can be shaped
without a tool. Start by shaping at the
lordosis and then work upwards.
Adjusting the straps
Let the patient put the brace on and
close the abdominal pad. Then adjust
the straps in the following sequence:
pelvic strap, shoulder strap, elastic
connecting strap. For each strap, undo
the Velcro, pull the strap tight, and
secure it again. As soon as all the straps
have been correctly adjusted, they can
be shortened using a pair of scissors.
Pelvic strap
Ensure that the pelvic strap runs below
the pelvic bone. This strap should be
tight.
Shoulder strap
The shoulder strap should gently hold
the patient erect, but should not cut in.
Select the tension so that the shoulder
strap lies flat against the shoulder.
