Inserting the battery:
3.
Place the battery on the guide pins of the lower bracket in the
downtube with the contacts of the battery pointing downwards.
4.
Turn the key counter-clockwise and push the battery down firmly at its
upper end, until you hear it engage.
If the battery does not engage with an audible "click", check
if the battery is secure and whether the topsides of the
downtube and battery cover are aligned. A protrusion of the
battery cover of appr. 1mm is inside the tolerance range.
3.6. Disc brakes bed-in procedure
Prior to the first use the pressure point at the brake lever can feel a bit
imprecise. Standing next to the e-bike pull both brake levers 5-10 times to
build up a defined pressure point.
Brand-new disc brakes require a break in period to obtain top performance.
According to the manufacturer Formula the brakes become fully efficient
after 50 decelerations from a speed of 30 km/h to a full stop.
Please note that on your Schindelhauer e-bike, the front
brake is connected to the left brake lever by default!
Familiarize yourself with the performance of the brakes
away from road traffic. Especially the front brake has an
increased stopping power, that may lift the rear wheel
when braking hard.
3.7. Lighting setup
Prior to the first ride, check if the light beam of the Supernova front light is
adjusted correctly. In 5 meters distance, the brightest area of the light beam
should be at half of the height where it is mounted on the e-bike. This is
achieved by doing the following:
1.
Position the e-bike in front of a wall in 5 meters distance.
2.
Mark the area for the recommended height of the brightest part of the
light beam on the wall.
3.
Activate the lighting (switch on the e-bike system and long press the
"+" button on the Purion control) and position the e-bike upright.
4.
Adjust the brightest area of light beam to the half of the height of
where the front light is mounted. The dimmed upper area of the light
beam should be lower than the mounting height of the front light, to
avoid blinding oncoming traffic.
