3. Insert the cranio-guard rotary instrument up to
the thrust stop (Fig. 6A).
4. Insert the cranio-guard nose onto the « Heavy
Duty » handpiece (Fig. 6B). To fix the cranio-
guard, align the mark with the irrigation channel
of the « Heavy Duty » handpiece (Fig 6C).
5. To close the handpiece, turn the ring in the
direction of the arrow, up to the thrust stop and
release it. The ring automatically goes back to
the front of the handpiece (Fig. 6D).
If the handpiece closing ring is open or not closed
properly, the handpiece will automatically stop
rotating when the motor is turned on.
8.5. Check
Prior to start-up, make sure that the instrument is
secure by pulling it (Fig. 4C). Prior to working on
a patient, pull the PM2 « Heavy Duty » and cranio-
guard nose to be sure that it is secure, then run
the rotary instrument to check that there is no
vibration.
The rotary instrument must be in perfect
condition: Shape, surface condition and cut.
The user is fully responsible for:
- Ensuring that the rotary instrument meets the
Bien-Air Surgery SA specifications.
- Ensuring that it rotates without vibration at the
speed at which it will be used.
8.6. « Heavy Duty » handpiece irrigation
PM2-S70HD and PM2-A70HD handpiece has
internal irrigation. Connect the irrigation line on the
top of the handpiece (Fig. 7A). Irrigation can be
orientated at 360° by turning the handpiece nose
(Fig. 7B).
8.7. Precautions – warnings
Do not exceed the maximum rotation speed
according to the rotary instrument range and its
exposition, as stated in the PM2 rotary instrument
instructions for use.
Never mount an instrument on a rotating motor.
2100273-001_2019_05_MdE PM2 (FR,DE,EN,IT,ES,NL)
Never adjust the clamping/unclamping ring while
the instrument is rotating, since this could damage
the mechanism or destroy the motor.
Before using the instrument, turn it on at
a moderate speed with a tool in the rotary
instrument locking mechanism for a few
seconds, so as to spread the lubricant
and remove any excess.
8.8. Operating period
To avoid exceeding 41°C on the outer surface of
the handpiece when used at full power and at
maximum speed, the following rules should be
complied with:
a) Limit the maximum speed of rotation based on
the intended use.
b) Adequate irrigation is recommended.
c) Period of continuous operation highly depends
on irrigation and the load and speed applied to
the tool.
Indicative values:
10-15 minutes at low load.
1-2 minutes at high load without irrigation
followed by a minimum interruption period of 30
seconds.
If the irrigation tube becomes clogged during
a surgical operation, use the cleaning wire
REF 1000001-010 and a long cleaning
curette REF 1000009-010 to clear it.
