9. Initial operation

The charger can either be operated using stabilised DC current (11V - 18V=) or with AC line
voltage (100-240V~, 50/60 Hz).
Never connect the charger to any other voltage, as this will destroy the charger
and will void the warranty!
Never connect the charger to DC current (see Chapter 8, position 1) and
line voltage (see Chapter 8, position 9) at the same time!
Depending on the rechargeable battery that is connected, a charging current
of up to 5A can be achieved. If the charger is operated using 11-18V= DC
current, a strong power supply must be selected accordingly.
Select one of the two operation categories:
a) Connection to stabilised 11-18V= DC current
Connect the connection cable that was supplied with the unit (2 alligator clips on 1 round
plug) to the power supply. Plug the round plug into the corresponding socket of the charger
(see Chapter 8, position 1).
b) Connection to 100-240V~/50/60 Hz AC line voltage
Connect the power cord that was supplied with the unit to the corresponding socket of the
charger (see Chapter 8, position 9). Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
The charger will emit a short audible signal, the LC display will flash. The charger is now in the
main menu:

Please heed the following points before connecting/charging the accumulator:
• If you have not done so already, please read chapter 5 and 6 completely and
ensure that you have understood the information there.
• Do you know all of the information about your accumulator that you need to
know? Unknown or unlabelled batteries for which you do not know the
necessary values may not be connected/charged!
