of the ladder can create risks which

in good health. Certain medical

misuse of drugs or alcohol can

Ensure when transporting lad-
ders on roof racks or in trucks
that the ladders are attached /
fastened appropriately to prevent
personal injuries or property
damage.
Examine the ladder after it has
been delivered and before first

use to ascertain the condition
and functionality of all parts.
Carry out a visual inspection of
the ladder for damage and safe
use at the beginning of every
work day on which the ladder
must be used.
Verify the ladder is suitable for
the respective use.
Do not use the ladder if it is
damaged.
Remove all contamination on
the ladder, such as wet paint,
dirt, oil or snow before using
the ladder.
Before using the ladder for work
a risk evaluation with considera-
tion to the national regulations
of use must be carried out.
The ladder must be set up in the
correct set up position i.e. correct
installation angle for leaning
ladders (inclination angle approx.
1:4), with rungs and treads hori-
zontal.
Locking devices, when applied,
must be fully secured before use.
The ladder must be placed on
a level, horizontal, immovable
surface.

leaned against a level, solid
surface and be secured before
use i.e. by securing the leaning
