8. Connection and installation

All the connecting cables must not be bent or squeezed. This can result in malfunc-
tions, short circuits and defects in the device. There should be no devices with
strong electrical fields such as mobile telephones, radios and electrical motors etc.
in the vicinity of the digital recorder.
Make sure that the power pack is separated from the H.264 digital recorder during
installation and connection and that this is turned off.
The H.264 digital recorder, the remote control as well as the power unit may only be
operated in dry, indoor rooms.

8.1 Installation of the SATA hard disk

A SATA hard disk is not contained in the delivery. This must be purchased sepa-
rately. You may use a SATA hard disk with a capacity of up to 500 GB.
To ensure proper installation, you have to remove the housing cover of the H.264 digital recorder. The
housing cover of the H.264 digital recorder is attached with eight screws (2 screws each on the side, 4
on the back of the housing).
• Make sure that the power unit is separated from the H.264 digital recorder and that this is turned off
(switch "ON/OFF" (22) must be set to position "O").
• Remove the screws of the housing.
• Carefully take off the housing cover.
• Connect the SATA connector as well as the plug for the voltage supply to your SATA hard disk.
• Insert the SATA hard disk into the intended installation slot.
• Attach the SATA hard disk in the installation slot with suitable screws.
• Carefully place the cover on the H.264 digital recorder and attach this using the previously removed
screws.
