7. CHARGING THE QUICK-STARTING SYSTEM
Before first commissioning of the quick-start system, the integrated rechargeable battery must be char-
ged completely. Switch off all consumers for this (working lamp, 12 V and USB output socket); also put
the dial switch for the starting aid (11) into the „OFF" position. No device must be connected to the 12 V
output socket!
Important:
Due to the self-discharge of lead batteries, we recommend recharging the quick-start system every 3 - 4
months at the latest.
a) Charging with the Plug-in Mains Unit
• Connect the low-voltage cable of the plug-in mains unit (12) to the charge socket (2), plug the plug-in mains unit
into a proper mains socket. The display (4) lights up. „CH" (= „CHARGE") flashes in the display.
• If the battery in the quick-start system is completely empty, charging will take approx. 20 - 22 hours. After completi-
on of charging, the display „FL" (= „FULL" ) will flash.
• After completion of charging, disconnect the plug-in mains unit from the quick-start system and remove it from the
mains socket.
Check the charge condition now and then. For this, the charging cable must be removed from the quick-start
system first! The charge condition is displayed in percentages.
b) Charging with 12 V Charging Cable
• Connect the 12 V charging cable (13) to the charging socket (2), then plug the cigarette lighter plug into the
corresponding socket of the vehicle.
The LED in the cigarette lighter and the display lamp (4) light up. If not, the vehicle socket only has voltage applied
if the ignition is on. In this case, we recommend using the included plug-in mains unit for charging.
Complete charging of the quick-start system in a standing vehicle is not possible. In this case, only a
„charge balance" between the two rechargeable batteries would happen. Complete charging is only
possible when driving, because the vehicle generator lifts the on-board voltage to approx. 13.8 V.
• If the battery in the quick-start system is completely empty, charging will take approx. 8 - 10 hours. When the
rechargeable battery in the quick-start system is charged, the display „FL" (= „FULL" ) will flash.
• After completion of charging, disconnect the 12 V-charging cable from the quick-start system and remove it from
the cigarette lighter socket.
Check the charge condition now and then. For this, the charging cable must be removed from the quick-start
system first! The charge condition is displayed in percentages. For this, observe the notes in the following
chapter „Charge Condition for the Integrated Rechargeable Battery".
