c) Charger un accumulateur avec branchement à l'équilibreur
(« BALANCE »)
Contrairement au programme de charge simple « CHARGE », la tension de chaque élément
est ici surveillée et le courant de charge réglé en conséquence.
En plus des deux raccordements d'accumulateur normals, le raccord d'équilibreur de
l'accumulateur doit également être relié au chargeur, voir chapitre 11. a).
Le reste de la procédure à suivre pour le chargement est décrit dans le chapitre 11. b).

Si un accumulateur de plusieurs éléments est raccordé par les raccords
d'équilibreur, vous pouvez commuter pendant le processus de charge entre
l'affichage normal et l'affichage des tensions des différents éléments à l'aide
de la touche « INC ».
Seul un pack d'accumulateurs avec une tension strictement identique par
élément donne une puissance et une durée de fonctionnement maximale pour
un avion ou véhicule en modèle réduit.
En raison des variations dans la qualité du matériau et la structure interne de
par ex. un pack d'accumulateurs LiPo à plusieurs éléments, il arrive que les
éléments présentent une tension différente en fin de décharge.
Si l'on charge un tel accumulateur LiPo sans équilibreur, de grandes différences
de tension entre les éléments surviennent très rapidement.
Ceci entraîne non seulement une durée de fonctionnement plus courte (parce
qu'un élément subit une chute en tension) mais aussi un endommagement de
l'accumulateur en raison d'une décharge profonde.
Il y a en outre un risque de surcharge lors de la charge d'éléments différents
(présentant une tension différente) sans équilibreur. La tension maximale
admise d'un élément LiPo de 4,2 V environ (+/- 1%) est dépassée (pour les
données pour LiIon et LiFe voir chapitre 7).
Exemple :
De l'extérieur, un pack d'accumulateurs LiPo à 2 éléments, chargé sans
équilibreur, a une tension de 8,4 V et semble ainsi complètement chargé. Les
éléments ont néanmoins une tension de 4,5 V et 3,9 V (un élément est
dangereusement surchargé, l'autre est à moitié vide).
Un élément ainsi surchargé peut corroder ou dans le cas le plus grave
prendre feu et exploser !

c) Discharging accumulators ("DISCHARGE")

• After you have selected the "Pb" program in the main menu with the button "Batt Type/Stop"
and confirmed this with the button "Start/Enter", you can select the discharge function using
the button "INC" or "DEC":

The value on the left in the second line shows the discharge current, the value on the right
shows the voltage or number of cells of the accumulator (in this example, a 6-cell lead
accumulator, 6x 2.0V = 12.0V).
• If the values need to be changed, press the "Start/Enter" button. The discharge current
blinks. Change the discharge current using the buttons "INC" and "DEC", confirm the value
using the "Start/Enter" button.
• The voltage/cell number then begins to flash. Change it using the buttons "INC" and "DEC".
You should be aware while doing this that the voltage only changes with the number of cells
(e.g. one cell = 2.0V, two cells 4.0V etc.) Confirm the setting by pressing the "Start/Enter"
button.

The charger sets the final discharge voltage automatically for safety reasons.
• To begin the discharge process, keep the "Start/Enter" button pressed (approx. 3 seconds).
• If the settings are wrong, or if the charger detects a problem, an audio signal is emitted and
the appropriate information is shown on the display.
You can stop the audio signal by pressing the "Batt Type/Stop" button. You then return to
the previous configuration menu.
• If you press the button "Start/Enter" during the discharge process, the discharge current can
be changed (see above).
• Once the discharge process has been completed, an audio signal is emitted.

If you wish to terminate the discharge process beforehand, press the "Batt
Type/Stop" button.
