2.7. Behnke Letterbox installation

For Letterboxes 20-5850; 20-5851; 205853

(Where necessary) guide the connection
cables through the letterbox base, prior to
screwing the letterbox installation to the
foundation. Use hex screws and plugs, stud
bolts or stay bolts to fix the letterbox base to the
concrete foundation (see chapter "1. Foundation
sketch" on page 31). We recommend using
screws etc. with a 12 mm diameter and a length
of 180 mm minimum.
Important! Please adhere to the torque
indication for tightening as provided by the
screw manufacturer.
Please note: These parts are not included in the
box.
Please keep a note of the key numbers for
the cylinder locks controlling the inspection
door inside the stele/pylon and (where availa-
ble) the letterbox door inside the letterbox for
possible replacement orders at a later stage.

Attached to these instructions, please find a
detachable list that you can give the customer.
When mounting letterbox installations and
steles/pylons with letterbox, please observe
the following:Behnke's Letterbox installations
or steles/pylons with letterboxes protect your
post against any weather condition. When
mounting a stand-alone installation, however,
please ensure that the letter slot is not openly
directed towards the weather side.To obtain
optimum water protection for your post, the

letterbox installations should be equipped with a
complete fairing. Wherever possible, the letterbox

installation and steles/pylons with a letterbox
should be located under a canopy. Your post will
be protected against rainwater, once it has been
put into the letterbox completely and the letter
slot is fully closed. Where post is not put into the
letterbox completely, this allows for humidity and
dirt to also get into the letterbox. It is absolutely
necessary to always have suitably dimensioned
letterboxes for the amount of post to be expected.

* Where the installation is not level, this may
lead to the column body being warped, which
then may result in problems concerning the
columns' waterproofness.
