Replace fuel filter
– Drain fuel from the filter into a
suitable container.
– Loosen fuel filter (23) with a filter
wrench and unscrew by hand.

Properly dispose of fuel and
fuel filter.
– Screw fuel filter back on with new
O-ring.
– Lightly moisten O-ring with diesel
fuel before installation.
– Clean seal surfaces and filter
flange thoroughly.
– Lightly moisten the new fuel filter's
seal with diesel fuel.
– Screw on the fuel filter by hand
until the seal contacts the filter
flange.
– Tighten the fuel filter one-third
rotation further.
– Bleed fuel system.
Bleeding the fuel system

Collect draining fuel and
properly dispose of it.
– Open bleeder screw (24).
– Actuate the hand pump lever on
the fuel pump (25) until fuel comes
out on the bleeder screw without
bubbles.
– Tighten bleeder screw.
– Turn ignition/starter
position I for approx. 10 s.
– Wait 10 s.
– Repeat until engine starts.
IMPORTANT Check the fuel filter, overflow
valve and fuel injector cap
units for leaks during the
engine test run.
NOTICE If the engine does not start or
stalls right away, repeat the
bleeding procedure.
