Maintenance / Repairs
and Controls
Before the system is commissioned, you must carry out an accep‐
tance inspection, including an acceptance log in which the notes
and conditions for application specified here are confirmed. After
repairs and disassembly in the course of the maintenance of safety-
relevant motor parts, the motor must be tested individually again
according to EN 60079-15 if the explosion protection characteristics
were changed due to the repairs or disassembly (Section 26 in EN
60079-0).
Danger of explosion! Fatal injury due to errors in activating motors and
working on moving elements!
⇒ Do not work on unsecured and operating machines.
⇒ Before accessing motors after having switched them off, let them cool down
for a sufficiently long time. Depending on the motor size, a cooling time up to
140 minutes can be necessary!
⇒ Ensure that the power is off and that the motor is disconnected only in an
atmosphere that is not capable of explosions.
⇒ Before working on the system, always use a suitable measuring instrument
(e.g. multimeter) to check whether parts are still under a residual voltage (e.g.
due to the residual energies of capacitors in filters, drive devices, etc.); let their
discharge times elapse.
⇒ Secure the machine against accidental movements and against unautho‐
rized operation.
⇒ Before dismantling, secure the motor and power supply against falling or
movement before disconnecting the mechanical connections.
In the case of malfunctions, maintenance, or to deactivate the motors, proceed
as follows:
1.
Use the control commands to bring the drive to a controlled standstill.
2.
Switch off the power and control voltage of the drive device.
3.
Switch off the main switch of the machine.
4.
Secure the machine against accidental movements and against unautho‐
rized operation.
5.
Wait for the cooldown times of the motor and the discharge time of the
electrical systems to elapse.
6.
Disconnect all electrical connections.
7.
Before dismantling, secure the motor and power supply against falling or
movement before disconnecting the mechanical connections.
8.
Dismantle the motor from the machine.
9.
Log all measures taken in the commissioning report.
Increase availability with regular preventive maintenance measures. Notice the
information in the maintenance schedule of the machine manufacturer and the
following details regarding maintenance measures and intervals for the motor.
