12. Storage, care, re-use, maintenance and disposal
12.1. Storage
If your Erivo is to be stored for an extended period (e.g. several months), please observe the following points:
• Protect the components of the Erivo with film in order to keep moisture out.
• Store the Erivo and its components in a dry room.
• Ensure that no moisture penetrates into or drips onto the Erivo or its components.
• Ensure that the Erivo and its components are not continuously exposed to solar radiation (e.g. through windows).
• Ensure that unauthorised persons (especially children) do not have unsupervised access to this room.
• Please observe the instructions for storing the battery pack in chapter 4.8.
• The Erivo and the its components must be cleaned prior to recommissioning. In particular, it is necessary to ensure that there are no metal-
lic particles on/in the plugs [23, 24 and 25] of the charger, the socket [14] of the battery pack or the socket [20] of the control unit.
• Check whether maintenance (see chapter 12.4) is required before recommissioning, and arrange this if necessary.
12.2. Care
Water ingress can permanently damage the drive.
For this reason, never clean the Erivo or its individual components under running water or with a high-pressure
24
cleaner.
Always ensure that no liquids or moisture get into the components, especially the wheels and the battery pack.
Only clean the battery pack with damp (not wet!) cloths. Under no circumstance is liquid to get into the battery
pack (Risk of fire!).
i
Alber GmbH accepts no liability for damage or consequential damage caused by water penetration. Please note that
such damage is not covered by our warranty.
Routine cleaning work
• The Erivo is to be switched off and put into electric motor operation prior to cleaning and maintenance work. These measures help pre-
vent the wheelchair rolling away inadvertently.
• Check the Erivo for cleanliness at regular intervals, especially if you have travelled over grass, sand, uneven ground, and potholes.
• Do not expose the Erivo to heat, cold or moisture for prolonged periods of time.
• Keep the control unit clean at all times.
• For all cleaning processes, use cloths lightly moistened with water at most; never use scouring agents or aggressive cleaning agents.
• Never apply liquid cleaners or solvents to the control unit, battery pack, charger or electrical connections.
• Pay special attention to the joystick of the control unit during cleaning work. The joystick must always return to its mid-position. The
rubber border must also not be damaged. This is to prevent moisture from penetrating.
• If you notice that parts of the Erivo are no longer fully functional, screws are missing, exposed wires are visible on cables or that there
is other externally visible damage, please contact your specialist dealer immediately to arrange a functional check.
Yearly cleaning work
The following components should always be cleaned thoroughly if necessary. In any case, they are to be cleaned at least once a year.
• Armrest: Use a damp cloth and a gentle detergent or 77% alcohol to wipe.
• Seat cushion and backrest: First use a vacuum cleaner, and then a damp cloth and a gentle detergent. Never use abrasive cleaning
agents as such agents could damage the seat.
• Control unit: Use a damp cloth to wipe, and then a dry cloth to dry. Never use abrasive cleaning agents.
