3.2 External power supply

You can also use a different power source instead of the power pack supplied.
The power source must be able to supply a DC voltage between 7 V and 36 V
at a maximum consumption of 50 W.

3.3 Transducer connection

The DI1... and DI4... devices are equipped with optical connector sockets for
1 and 4 optical sensor chains:
1-DI101 1 optical sensor chain
1-DI105 1 optical sensor chain
1-DI110 1 optical sensor chain
1-DI405 4 optical sensor chains
1-DI410 4 optical sensor chains
These FC/APC sockets are fitted on the right of the interrogator front panel.
Only one or all four of the outputs are available, depending on the version of
the interrogator.
CAUTION
Take exceptional care to ensure that only clean FC/APC plugs are used and
that these are cleaned regularly. Dirty or wrongly adapted plugs reduce the
power and can cause a great deal of damage to the interrogator. Take note of
Section 2.3 "Maintenance and cleaning".
WARNING
Under no circumstances should you look into the end of an optical fiber connected
to the optical output when the device is in operation. Laser radiation is not visible to
the human eye, but it can seriously damage your sight.
NOTE
We recommend that you initially connect the device with a fiber−optic light guide
approx. 10 − 20 cm in length and connect the actual sensors to this. If the sensor
connection gets dirty, the short fiber-optic light guide can then be replaced without
damaging the device. Multiplexer modules are available to fan out the inputs and
these can be requested separately from HBM. This increases the number of optical
sensor chains that can be connected from 4 to 8 or 16.
