• When used in Zones 2, the intrinsically safe devices of Zones 1, 0, 21 and 20 can be

connected to the intrinsically safe signal circuits.
• If used in Zone 2, the device must be installed in an enclosure that meets the

requirements of IEC/EN 60079-15.

• Connect the device only to intrinsically safe terminals.
• The safety characteristic values of the connected field devices must correspond to the

specifications in the data sheet or in the EC Type Examination Certificate.

Function

Application range
For example, binary outputs without auxiliary power are used for intrinsically safe
operation of solenoid valves or LED indicator lamps.
Mode of operation
The devices do not require a separate power supply, but are instead supplied via the
triggering output.
