7.4.4 Four-way chest strap/chest belt (for Recaro® seats
only)
WARNING
Risk of injury due to improper use of the four-way chest
strap. The four-way chest strap / chest belt helps to addi-
tionally stabilise the person sitting in the C1000 DS power
wheelchair. The four-way chest strap / chest belt must
never be used as part of a restraint system for transporta-
tion of the person in a motor vehicle for the disabled.
When the C1000 DS power wheelchair is equipped with a
Recaro® seat, it may be retrofitted with a four-way chest
strap or chest belt.
The four-way chest strap makes it possible to restrain the
patient in the C1000 DS power wheelchair. The lower strap
should be placed between the pelvic bone and thigh, and
should not be too tight. The belt buckle is positioned at the
front of the body, in the centre. The shoulder straps should
be positioned evenly on both sides on the thorax, and should
not be too tight.

be too tight on the body. Objects caught under the belt
can cause painful pressure sores.

pull. To reduce the length of the belt, pull the overhanging
