Operating Instructions
Kickback
Kickback describes what happens when the
chainsaw jerks up and backwards. It usually oc-
curs when the leading edge of the chainsaw
(area X) accidentally comes into contact with an-
other piece of wood during sawing (see illustra-
tion). Kickback can also occur when the chain be-
comes jammed or wedged in place.
When kickback occurs, the chainsaw reacts in an
unpredictable manner, frequently leading to se-
vere injuries to the operator and to any persons in
the vicinity.
Lateral cuts are to be approached with particular
caution, as the serrated travel stop 22 cannot be
applied here. In order to avoid the risk of kickback
under these conditions, apply the saw at the flat-
test possible angle.
Never saw with loose or dull chain.
An incorrectly sharpened chain increases
the risk of kickback.
Never saw above shoulder height.
Cutting logs
Observe all safety regulations while sawing
logs in the following manner:
Position the log as shown in the illustration, or
support at the cut to prevent the incision from
closing against the chain.
Clamp shorter pieces of wood into position before
sawing.
Saw only wood or wooden objects. When sawing,
always take care to avoid hitting stones, nails,
etc, as these could be thrown up or cause dam-
age to the chain.
Do not allow the saw to come into contact with
wire fencing or with the ground while it is running.
Provide the unit with the best possible support
when sawing boughs and branches. Never use
the leading edge of the saw for this type of work.
Take particular care with boughs and branches
which are bent back under tension.
Use of the unit for sawing thin branches is not ap-
proved.
X
Lateral cuts are to be approached with particular
caution, as the serrated travel stop cannot be ap-
plied here. In order to avoid the risk of kickback
under these conditions, apply the saw at the flat-
test possible angle.
When working on a slope, the chainsaw operator
should stand above or to the side of the trunk or
lying tree.
Be careful not to trip on objects such as tree
stumps, roots, ditches and bumps!
Check chain tension and retension where re-
quired.
Check oil level and refill where required.
Connect chainsaw to an electrical power source.
Note:
The chainsaw must be running before it makes
contact with the wood!
Switching on: Press lockout button 20 and
ON/OFF switch 19.
Place the lowermost travel stop 22 against the
log, use the rear handle to raise the angle of the
chainsaw, and saw into the log.
Withdraw the saw somewhat and position travel
stop 22 lower down.
Use caution when sawing splittered wood. Wood
chunks could be thrown up by the saw.
Do not saw into the ground as this will dull the
chain!
Switching off: Release ON/OFF switch 19.
Remove plug from electrical outlet.
