The space around the collection reservoir is an
explosion zone free space.
In order not to change the above-mentioned divi-
sion even during maintenance, a pipe fan must be
present in the sump venting pipe that goes into
operation automatically, e.g. with the light switch,
and cannot be switched off manually. The fan
power must achieve an eightfold air exchange per
hour. The direction of flow must be "sucking".
Here too the pipes must be correctly laid to the
outdoors (see above).
7 Installation
DANGER! Danger to life!
Unsuitable installation can be life-threatening.
• Installation may be performed only by qualified
personnel and in accordance with the valid reg-
ulations.
• Observe the regulations for accident preven-
tion.
CAUTION! Danger of material damage
Danger of damage due to unsuitable handling.
The solids separation system must be set up and
laid out in accordance with the generally valid
technical rules.
7.1 Conveyor technology
The construction of the "solids separation sys-
tem" requires the following determination:
• Pumps run in alternation, since parallel operation
of the pumps is not permitted.
• A variable running time monitoring (e.g. time
relay) of the pumps is to be provided. The pump
unit must be switched to the other pump unit
after a certain running time, regardless of the
water level/filling level of the pump unit that is
switched on. When the lower water level/filling
level (pump OFF) is reached, the control works in
cyclic automatic mode again with alternating
operation of the pumps.

7.2 Switching points

When the upper water level (filling level) is
reached in the collection reservoir, the relevant
pump is switched on via the filling level sensors
(pump ON).
After the lower water level (filling level) is reached
in the collection reservoir, the relevant pump is
switched off via the filling level sensors (pump
OFF).
This lower water level is generally above the pump
suction port to prevent the pumps from "drawing
air", i.e.: the pump suction port remains immersed.
In this way, a slurping operation of the pumps can
be avoided, since that can cause an imbalance in
the impeller.
After the water level for pump OFF has been
reached, the inlet process into the pumping sta-
tion starts again and continues cyclically (pump
ON/OFF) with alternating operation of the pumps.

7.3 Gate valve for solids reservoirs
The inlet slide valves (1 per solids reservoir) are
delivered in - OPEN - position, i.e. the inlet to the
solids separation reservoir is guaranteed. The
stopping element is fixed with a turnbuckle by
turning it to the right (tightening).
NOTE: The following procedure must absolutely
be complied with while - CLOSING - or - OPENING
- the inlet slide valves.
Inlet slide valves - CLOSING:
1. Close the gate valve by loosening the turn-
buckle (all the way) by turning it to the left.
2. Using a hand lever, press the slip cylinder
down as far as it will go. To make this proce-
dure easier, the lever can be moved back and
forth about the axis of the slip cylinder.
3. Fix the turnbuckle for the stopping element by
turning it to the right.
4. The slide valve is closed.
5. The inlet to the relevant solids separation
reservoir is closed.
Inlet slide valve - OPENING:
As in "Inlet slide valve - CLOSING" but in reverse
order.
8 Maintenance
Maintenance and repair only by qualified per-
sonnel
8.1 General
The cleaning procedures shown below can be per-
formed with the following basic tool equipment:
• Open-end and ring wrench 10 - 32 mm
• Allen wrench 6 - 10 mm
• Torque wrench
• Tongs set
WARNING! Danger to life!
Warning regarding faecal sewage. Protective
clothing for faecal sewage or protection for
hands and eyes is to be worn. If there is still con-
tact with sewage, everything must be disin-
fected.
When the system is reinstalled, make sure the
seals are positioned correctly. All screwed con-
nections on plastic components are to be tight-
ened with max. 29 Nm (torque).
When cleaning in a closed room, ensure a supply of
fresh air. Air replacement must be at least 8 times
per hour (air exchange number 8), i.e. the volume
of the room must be replaced 8 x per hour so that
no potentially explosive area arises, as required by
the regulations.
In general, before you enter an open sewage col-
lection location, you must perform an air meas-
urement for choking gases.
