I Before cleaning with water, seal off all openings into which no foreign substances such
as water, vapour or cleaning agent may enter for either safety or functioning reasons.
Electrical components in particular are at risk:
– After cleaning, completely remove all covers and bondings.
– Check the components to see whether moisture has entered.
– Dry all damp parts fully. Do not put the genset back into operation until all electrical
components are dry.
I When cleaning, do not use any pneumatic equipment or high-pressure cleaners. High
pressure can get past seals and impair the secure fit of individual components.
I After cleaning, check all fuel and engine oil lines for leaks, loose connections, chafing and
damage. Remedy any found faults immediately.
Maintenance
I Inspect the genset at regular intervals for externally visible damage and faults. Observe
the maintenance intervals stated in the operating manual, see
intervals" on
page 107.
I Inform operators about maintenance and servicing work in good time before such work
is started. Appoint a supervisor.
I Use appropriate workshop equipment and establish a wide cordon around the working
area.
I Only carry out maintenance work when the genset is switched off and has cooled down.
Secure it to prevent it being started up accidentally.
I Clean the genset and the working area thoroughly before you carry out maintenance
work. Do not allow dust and dirt to enter removed and disassembled components.
I De-energise machine components on which maintenance work is being carried out.
Before you start work, check that no voltage is present in the isolated areas. Use only
insulated tools.
I For accessories and spare parts, use only original parts because these meet the technical
requirements specified by the manufacturer.
I Always tighten screw connections with the specified torque.
I Never change the setting of adjustment screws and comparable parts that are sealed
with red sealing lacquer. No liability will be accepted if these instructions are not
followed.
I Carrying out certain maintenance work requires safety devices (e.g. housing covers,
protective grating, soundproofing) to be removed. As soon as the work has been
completed, make sure that these parts are fitted again and that they are checked to
ensure that they are functioning properly.
I No genset modifications, additions or conversions are allowed without the
manufacturer's written approval. This applies to the following actions in particular:
– Welding, burning and grinding work (fire and explosion hazard)
– Work on safety equipment and safety valves
Subject to change.
