Press the CALIBRATION button, then in sequence the
keys ARROW RIGHT - RIGHT - RIGHT - UP to enter the
calibration menu.
Description
Automatic function for the ze-
roing of the flange unbalance.
Calibration routine with
wheel and test weight.
Calibration routine for auto-
matic and laser gauges.
Calibration of the laser axle.
Flange calibration
1. Mount firmly a cone flange on the shaft;
2. following the instructions on the monitor press the
OK button to run a launch with the flange (without
wheel);
3. at the end of the launch the measured unbalance is
memorized; this allows the electronic compensation
of any residual imbalance associated with the shaft
or the centering adapter.
Imbalance calibration
4. Mount a car wheel in good condition of average size
(diameter 14'') on the cone adapter and secure well;
5. very carefully set the wheel measurements using the
automatic gauges (previously calibrated) as shown in
paragraph "setting wheel data":
6. following the instructions on the monitor, press the
OK button to run a cycle with the wheel;
7. at the end of the cycle the machine requests the
setting of the figures for the weight for the following
calibration stages; the value suggests automatically
is the last one used (for example 100g Pb or 60g
Zn);
8. If necessary, insert the figure in grams for the cho-
sen weight for auto-calibration and press the OK key
to confirm;
9. following the instructions on the monitor, place the
weight on inside of the wheel and run a balance
cycle;
10.
at the end of the cycle remove the calibration
weight on the inside of the wheel and move it to the
outside, in the symmetrically opposite position;
run a balance cycle;
11.
12.
the wheel must be manually rotated so as to
bring the calibration weight into a perpendicular
position at 6 o'clock (down, below the main shaft);

13. keeping the wheel in this position, press the OK
key to confirm the position.

The calibration performed is automatically perma-
nently stored (and it is not necessary to repeat it).
Gauge calibration
To perform a gauge calibration it is recommended to
work without a wheel on the flange, follow the instruc-
tions on the monitor to carry out the following calibra-
tion procedures:
14.
setting and measuring neutral distance: read
the first value of the millimetre scale, set it in the
machine with the ARROW keys and with the gauge
15.
setting and measuring distance at 200mm:
bring the gauge
16.
setting and measuring of the width and diam-
eter of a test wheel: mount a wheel, possibly of 13''
or 14'', set with the keys ARROW the distance value
(in mm), width and diameter (in inches) and, with
the cursor touching the wheel, press OK.
In the last phase the laser assembly is automatically
calibrated.
Calibration of the laser axle
The calibration procedure at the moment can be car-
ried out only by the manufacturer.
Notes for technical support
It can happen that the machine, after calibration, works
correctly but it does not store permanently the various
parameters. To check:
R
turn off the machine;
R
wait 10 sec.;
R
restart;
R
check that the gauges make their measurements
correctly ;
R
check that the machine balances perfectly.
4.5
Self-diagnosis menu and mending
procedures
On all versions of the Sicam balancers there is a menu
of self-diagnosis which can be used during technical
assistance to check thoroughly the machine. This menu
is essential to detect a sensor malfunction.
4.5.1
Diagnosis page
With the software upgrade 5.20 an interactive diagnos-
tic page is available which gives the opportunity to the
technical assistance to specifically test the different
functions of the balancer.
To enter the diagnosis menu from the main page use
the following keys sequence: F5 - F5.
