4.4.1. WINNER-4WN ELECTROPUMPS RATING PLATE
Below is the adhesive rating plate applied to WINNER-4WN
series electropumps.
For descriptions of numerical values, see PART 1 chap. 12.
4.5. INFORMATION ON AIRBORNE NOISE
Given the type of use, the motor-driven pumps do not exceed
an A-weighted sound pressure emission level of 70 dB (A).
THE MANUFACTURER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO AMEND
TECHNICAL DATA FOR THE PURPOSE OF PRODUCT IM-
PROVEMENTS AND UPDATING.

5. PREPARING FOR USE

WARNING
USE A ROPE FASTENED ON THE RELEVANT HOOKS TO
LIFT OR LOWER THE PUMP: NEVER USE THE POWER
CORD
To install WINNER-4WN series pumps, proceed as directed
in PART 1, chapter 7 and in the following points:
5.1. WINNER-4WN
The submersible pump must be installed correctly if it is to
provide lengthy, efficient service. Submersible WINNER-4WN
pumps purchased without a motor can be coupled with any
kind of submersible motor of suitable size and power, accord-
ing to NEMA standards. To perform the operation properly,
proceed as follows:
5.1.1. Installation
a) The motor-driven pump has two openings to be used to
connect a safety cable (FIG. 1);
b) use an instrument to make sure that the motor is not
earthed.
c) the motor comes with a cable. When joining the cable, be
sure to:
– choose suitable cable;
– perform the work correctly;
– ensure the extension is good quality and intact;
d) once you have done, make sure the joint has been made
properly and is insulated, checking electrical insulation
from phase to earth. Once you have done, use a tester to
make extra sure that joints and connections have been
made properly;
e) the extension of the modular delivery pipe is performed
at the same time as the pump is lowered into the well (by
means of the safety cable). This involves inserting non-
return valves between the parts, where necessary (the
delivery pipe's diameter must be equal to or greater than
the pump's port). The power cord is fastened to the pipe
with clamps;
f) the pump comes with a nonreturn valve, but it is best to
install (see point C) an additional valve on the delivery
pipe after 15 m and another one every 40 m. Fitting these
valves avoids damage caused by water hammer, reducing
shocks produced by the water immediately after switching
on and off;
g) once the pump has been lowered into the well, make sure
it does not touch the bottom and that it is always at least
1m under water and suspended at least 1m above the
gravel. The well should be purged of sand and any other
foreign matter contained;
make sure the pump is still submersed even after exten-
sive use, where necessary lowering it or installing a safety
device employing a minimum-level sensor to prevent dry
running;
h) make sure - based on the well's size, planned delivery
rate and motor size - that the average flow around the
motor is at least 0.10 m/s. If this is not the case, you will
need to apply a water jacket.
5.1.2. Wiring (FIG. 7-8)
To perform wiring, proceed as directed in PART 1 and - if you
have a single-phase or three-phase version with star/delta
starting – Figures 7-8, which feature colour coding of the
power cord's wires for connection to a control panel.
5.2.1. Starting
If the system features a nonreturn valve on the delivery, the
water level, even with the pump stopped, must never be
allowed to drop below the holes in the suction grid, or the
pump will be drained of water. This leads to pump priming
problems, even after the normal level has been restored.
